What are you getting your TWEEN DD for Christmas?

Do they have to be the Rainbow Loom brand?

What can I expect to pay? I'm looking at Amazon and they are $20+ right now......

Some designs require you to rearrange the loom. Not all looms allow you to do this. I would suggest reading reviews carefully before purchasing.

DD9 is tough to shop for this year. She has totally changed her likes in the last few months. She doesn't play with toys 99% of the time but has no interest really in clothes or anything.

She is getting a few things that are still on the kid side.

Calico critters-she is animal obsessed and this is the one set of toys she plays with, usually when she is grounded and banned to her room but at least she will use them. Probably just a set or two of animals

Disney on Ice tickets Princess and Heroes on ice will be here in Jan so I asked if she was interested in going if we invited a friend. I thought she would say no but she wants to go. Who doesn't want to see Flynn Rider and Prince Eric on ice?

The only other items she has asked for she will not be getting are iphone, ipod touch, motorized scooter or go cart. Um, no. She will get an ipod touch next year once she hits 10.

She will probably end up with
archery set (took lessons over summer at camp)
a few outfits and accesories from Justice
pjs and slippers
art supplies
headphones- probably sony- no way will she have Beats or Boss right now. Maybe in a few years
We will be redoing her room soon so I might leave a few items for xmas- she wants a saucer type chair that was in Targets dorm items in Sept.
New boots- probably from Justice- no Uggs for us (I feel so cheap, it seems like everyone else is getting Beats headphones and Ugg boots but DD still destroys shoes and doesn't take great care of her stuff so I dont feel too bad)

She just got a Rainbow Loom a few weeks ago but I don't think it will still be used by xmas. If it is I will get some replacement bands for the stocking.

Oh and one more thing. DD is obsessed with tigers. She has asked me money times to donate to the save the tigers organization but I haven't gotten around to it. I think I will make her a donation in her name and give her the reusable bag they send with a note about the donation. I think she will really enjoy this.

I really miss the years of getting everything at Toys R us.
Still need a few more ideas?? I will be watching this thread for some good ideas in the next few weeks.

I bought DD's directly from the site 16.95? plus shipping so $23 total?

I had checked Michael's craft store the day before and they didn't have any. I went there last weekend and they have a huge display and they are 16.95 so you can save the shipping cost if you have a Michael's near you. They have the replacement bands. They will not accept coupons for the kits or bands at our store.

If anybody has Lego Friends on their list, YOYO.com is offering 30% off any one item up to $30 off when you use code: TOY30Y You can also purchase two lego friends sets and get an additional 15% off. It can make for some pretty good deals:) Shipping is free when you spend $35+ and items usually arrive in one to two days. Love that site!!

My DD is 13 and she has asked for numerous pairs of Chuck Tayler/Converse shoes that have designs and characters on them. I ordered her one Dr Seuss pair, one Simpsons pair and a pair of knee high converse. I also ordered her some roller derby speed roller skates and a 24 pack of multi-colored L.A Colors jumbo eye pencils.

That used up her $350 budget for Christmas.

I will get her some little inexpensive things closer to Christmas.

I don't usually buy clothes or shoes as birthday or Christmas gifts. I buy them through out the year as needed and not as gifts.

But she wanted these special $75 a pair shoes and she wanted 3 of them, so she is getting them as a gift. I'm not nice enough to just drop $225 on shoes because she wants them when I already bought her 2 $60 pair of shoes at the beginning of school in August.

I may also put her a little gift box full of make up together. You can buy make up at the dollar store for very cheap. She is not picky about make up brands (yet) like I am so you can get quite a bit of make up, lip glosses, and things for $10 or $15.

Great thread! My oldest dd is 9, so she is still going to get a few toys. She has 2 younger sisters to play with, so it is ok:). My mom is buying her Molly and her sister Elizabeth, so I think I will get their pets. She is getting a plasma car(so are her sisters) they are a great time, I still fit on them:). I think I will get her the rainbow loom as she seems to be the only person in the world without :). I am also planning in getting her a smash book and some supplies. I am looking for the complete set of Harry Potter books as well, it is time:). My mom bought both of my older girls 2 American girl dolls, Molly and Elizabeth and the ones that were on sale through jills steals, or whatever. I am not sure how mom and dad and Santa can compete with that, I am trying to get lists! We went to Disney just last week so & told them they were getting less this year. I thought I would have this last year for her to believe in Santa, but she just brought super fudge home from the library, and I think that book ruins it. I will keep looking here for ideas!

I think I found something both my girls will love: http://ibbeautiful.com/ I'm planning to get a 3 month subscription for each of my daughters.

I got each of the kids a single share of Disney stock.

Yesterday I got each of my kids a new sled.

Each of my girls is getting a new leotard for gymnastics, and everyone is getting a rolling duffle for next year's Disney trip. We're also getting tickets to see Disney on Ice in January.

I got my 10 year old the Lego Friends cruise ship-- it was on sale one day at Target for something like $15 off, so I snapped it up. I also got her a bunch of books from the series she likes.

Oh, and each of the girls is getting a pair of boots-- Bearpaws (Amazon had them for $40 or so) for my 10 year old and Candies (from Kohls) for my 13 year old.

I'll go out black Friday and get everyone some clothes. My older daughter also wants the Nicki Minoj perfume.

The killer is my 15 year old son!!

Nerf rebelle pink crush blaster is $5.99 at amazon . My dd wanted the big one, but this seemed a little easier to handle and I got 2 for that price!

So far my plan for dd11 is:

Ugg Boots (got them on sale--yes I found a sale)
iPad Mini-- School has a new BYOD policy, so this will work well
Vera Bradley iPad mini case
Soccer Pants

Maybe some Bath and Bodyworks stuff...she's always taking free samples of stuff
I like the idea of Taylor Swift perfume...I could see her liking that....

I don't know what else...she's really hard to buy for as anything I pick isn't "cool"....but gift cards are so anti-climatic

Where were Uggs on sale? Ive seen at Marshalls but DD wants the tall chocolate ones and haven't seen them anywhere on sale.

For those of you new to Rainbow loom make sure you get a plastic case for the rubber bands and loom. They sort the rubber bands by color so they need to go somewhere! They have ones that just hold the rubber bands and they have other ones that hold the loom as well. They look almost like tackle boxes or boxes you would hold crafting beads in.

Something like this: http://www.coolzips.com/storagecaseforrainbowloom.aspx?gclid=CKSN3vnKxroCFc6j4AodlAEAbA

I know some stores sell ones that say for "rainbow loom" but you could probably get a similar one used for something else that is cheaper and works just as well.

So far all I have on my list to get my DD10 is a Kindle. Still looking for more ideas!

Not everything qualifies for prime shipping?
Had same issue. I was really disappointed:(. I saw on a deal site that it would qualify for super saver shipping@ 35, but not Prime). I am now thinking that this may be something Amazon does to get you to buy more, though they hadn't on the past. This is very disappointing, and will result in me buying much less from Amazon.

I tried everything. I saw that people were contacting Customer Service and its a glitch. Kmart has it for the same price though with free store pickup.

My 10 year old is getting AG Saige, her art set and some of her outfits. All she talk about is Saige. Since Saige and accesories are pricey. I won't be getting her that much else maybe just some art supplies like rainbow loom refills, duct tape, sketch pad and nice drawing pencils , books, small lego friend set and some Justice stuff for her stocking.

So far all I have for DD 10 is the rainbow loom, mustache jewelry, annual pass to Busch Gardens, iTunes card and the lego friends advent calendar (to get before Christmas).

We will probably also get her:
movies
books
a bow
targets
hunting stuff
a new bat (she wants a Dimarini, but we'll see)
:)

If you look on the Demarini website you can often find bats that are last year's artwork for at least $100 cheaper than the current bats. We scored a $450 bat for $251! Still in use 2 years later, it has held up very well.

My 9 year old DD is getting:

A basic sewing machine, which is her most wanted item.
Lego Friends Dolphin Cruiser, seems to be a popular item this year!
Venellope for Disney Infinity
Goddess Girls books
Kingdom Keepers books 3 and 4
Lego Friends 3DS game--I preordered this from Amazon

And that's about it, except for some stocking stuffers like an iTunes card, earrings, nail polish.

I lucked out and got the Legos 20% off at Toys R Us this week, plus I had a $15 gift card, so I got it for a little over half price.

She has been really pushing for an iPod Touch, but since her room seems to have a black hole in it, there is no way she's getting such an expensive item!

Confession : I have a DD9 and DD11 and I had to google rainbow looms. I guess I am not "mom of the year" :rotfl2:

I had no idea what is was either. I haven't seen any girls in my area wearing anything like it. When I read Rainbow Loom, I was thinking it was the old pegboard thing I had as a kid that we stretched pieces or fabric around to make pot holders.

My DD (10) is always asking me to buy her songs and a few games for her ipod touch so I think an ITunes gift card is a good idea. :thumbsup2

She is very crafty - yesterday I was in Hancock Fabrics and found a rolling organizer bag with zebra print. It was on the clearance table. I got it for $27.00 instead of the original price of 70.00. It is not something I even had in mind but I know she will love it! :cool1:

I plan to put some new craft supplies in it.

I might have to check out the Lego Friends Dolphin center. She has some Legos that she still plays with at times.

That is all I plan to buy for her. Her ipod touch was her big gift last year. She got it and a few other little things. This year, I don't plan to spend as much. I don't see the need. She will be happy with the craft stuff and the itune cards (about $20-30 total). I think I will get her a couple of ten dollar ones instead of all on one card. She has a habit of misplacing some things. She is very good with her big stuff (never lost or broke anything) but I can see where she might misplace a gift card.
