What are you getting your husband/SO for Christmas?

I usually buy my hubby a new pair of slippers every Xmas from Land's End. I am getting a new set of dishes for myself woohoo!

The last 3 years, this will be the 4th, I bought Giants tickets for my husband (and sons, now ages 24 and 26).

They are very expensive, but the fun they have is pretty priceless.

In our case, we don't really want more "stuff", married almost 28 years.

We can't afford season tickets, but we can afford (sort of) tickets for one game a year. They talk about it for months and months.

We are practical gift buyers. Some may call us boring. Every year my DH gets undies, socks, and movies. He never really asks for anything that's not useful. In the past he has asked for a bread maker, a dehydrator, coffee pot. This year I've already gotten him a grill/smoker combo. He's going to be so surprised. Also got him a new coffee pot. His current one is on it's way out.

This year I'm going all out, he got a little jipped on his birthday just because I was a little lazy. So he hasn't given me a list yet but I know one thing he wants which will be $250-400, and I'll get him some other small things (clothes, DVDs, etc).

Over the past years and since the kids were born, we rarely exchanged Christmas gifts and instead chose to purchase a gift all of us could enjoy (or at least the 2 of us when the kids were very young). One year we bought a Bowflex for DH's man-cave, another year was a leather loveseat/recliner for the family room, last year it was a Sony Blu-ray surround-sound player.

I still pick him up a few small things and a few odds-n-ends for his stocking (DD giftcard, Craftsman pocket knife, gas card, sometimes new gloves from Landsend or LLBean), and usually signed the gift tags from "Santa" or from the kids.

This year I'm shying away from the "big joint gift" idea since we really don't need anything right now, and am getting my DH a complete level 2 car detailing for his SUV/Explorer. This is something that I know he can do himself, but he is so busy always and has never done it since he bought the thing. It's not a pigpen by any means, but will look so nice and refreshed after a good detailing. I'll even drop it off for him and pick it up. My main concern is finding someone who does high-quality work in my area :goodvibes

Great thread. I am having a problem deciding what to get my DH for Christmas also. He is a huge Philly sports fan. Usually I get him the flyers Santa sack but they are still on strike. Next I was thinking about getting him a ticket plan for the phillies. The problem with that? They want a deposit of $250 a seat (was going to get two seats) but there is no guarantee you will get the season tickets. I am no comfortable shelling out $500 to possibly not have anything to show for it. Help!!!

I'm still working on it. My husbands birthday is in a week so I can't even begin to think Christmas until I get the gifts for that.

He doesn't consider clothes or shaving stuff gifts. Pretty much all he ever wants now is DVD's and the occasional book.

I'm thinking of the new James Bond BluRay collection. Oh and maybe the new Universal Monsters BluRay collection.

I need to get those ordered. I know he likes those movies so those will work well.

I was going to order the James Bond collection for my Dad - I went to Amazon and read the reviews - evidently they leave a lot to be desired. Just a warning to check into it before you order! :)

One of these years I'll get it right.

Last year he asked for a GPS, so I got him one. It got used once:confused3. I don't even know where it is now.

I got myself an Ipad2 last year, and he likes to steal it and use it frequently. So I asked him if he wanted one for his birthday. He said no, as he didn't think it was worth it. I got him a Kindle fire instead, thinking at half the price it would be worth it. I loaded a bunch of apps I thought he'd like and when he opened it he told me to return it, he didn't need it. Meanwhile, at the end of the day when I finally get to sit down with my ipad, he asks me to hand it over so he can use it:sad2: I should just get him one, but I might have to hurt him if he tells me to return it.

This year, I haven't a clue. Like other poster, if there was a hockey season, tickets to a game would be great. Maybe hockey apparel will be cheap, so I can get him some of that:guilty:

DH has been wanting a Keurig for forever. I decided I would do it for Christmas this year but would wait around for a decent sale (yes, I'm aware it's the middle of October, but I have most of my shopping done already ;)). ANYWAY, since this is the budget board I figured I'd share my deal (I like to brag :D).

Got a Keurig Special Edition (decided I couldn't justify the Platinum).

Kohl's regular price $189.99, on sale for $149.99. Used the 20% coupon code (there's a 30% of you have a charge but I don't :(). Brought it to $119.99. So thats what I paid BUT:

There's a $30 rebate ($89.99), and I got $20 in Kohl's cash ($69.99). I went through eBates which saved another $3.58 ($66.41). I also bought it with Giant Eagle gift cards, and earned 30cents off per gallon of gas. We get the full 30 gallons, so that's another $9 saved ($57.41)

Yay!
