I haven't seen a thread like this so decide to start one.

This year will be DD's first X'mas. She is 7 month right now.

Yes, I know she wouldn't care and she probably would have more fun with the wrapping paper, but I am the kind of mom who dressed her up for Halloween and took her ToT. (She just followed DS8 with me in a Baby Bjorn. No candy for her.) So, of course, I would like for her to get about the same amount of gifts as DS will get.

We saved all DS's toys so she has quite a lot to play with already, but I want to buy some toys for girls that she can play with down the road. I don't wan to "cheat" with clothing items. I want to buy something for her to play.

So far, using coupon codes, I have subscribed to some subscription boxes for babies including:
1. Citrus Lane ($12.5 after half off)
2. Stork Stack ($17.99 after $10 off)
3. Bluum Box ($12.47 after half off)

I figure I will get one or two pieces of toys/books from each box. Between these three box, I'll have enough stockings and some small gifts.

So far, I have got the Citrus Lane box and got this boat:

I also got a small doll when it was on sale on Amazon:

But I am not sure what to buy next. Please post your gift idea for babies. Thank you!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

My dd will be 1 in December. Finally having a little girl after 2 boys I've gone a little overboard but I do have Christmas and Birthday within weeks. Anyway she's getting: little people school bus, little people minivan, a little tikes shopping cart, a doll stroller, an xylophone, bath toys, corn popper( she loves pushing things), a baby doll, bunch of board books and the Pottery Barn everywhere chair. I am sure it sounds like a lot for a one year old but we have no real family so that is all she is getting.

My son turned 1 in September. He has 3 big sisters, so Daddy loves to buy boy toys, but they are not always age appropriate. I have learned it is senseless to go overboard with kids , especially babies. They will not play with everything they get! With that said, I am at a loss for what to get him. He will be getting building blocks, probably wood and duplo. He will probably get a tonka type truck. I have already purchased a fisher price smart phone toy, which will be a hit. If you don't already have one, all of my kids have liked the pretend computers, such as made by vtech. I feel it is easier to buy for baby girls than boys.

My 2 boys are 18 and 11. I'm finding it much easier to buy for dd than it ever was for them.

Youngest DS was 5 months his first Christmas. Older DS was 3.5 I actually wrapped up older DS's baby toys for him. It was easy b/c at 3.5 older DS didn't remember those toys! I have a large extended Family who bought them so much stuff I knew I could get away with it. If your older child still believes in Santa I would just get a few things from Santa. It's easy to go overboard but this is prob the only year you can minimize your spending. I'd take advantage ;)

I will have a brand new nephew for Christmas (2-3 weeks old, depending on birth date) and his Mommy has requested diapers and formula. :)

Of course, I can't get just that, so I picked him up a tiny Mickey tshirt while we were at WDW.

My daughter was 10 months last year. My son is 17 months older so we still had all the baby stuff. Her big gift was the fisher price laugh and learn house. This is a great toy. Both kids love it and it was a good big Santa gift.

My husband had the idea that you buy at Christmas with the idea of looking to the year ahead. I bought toys they would play with in the coming months, snack containers, sippy cups, bAth suplies. I put baby snacks in their stockings. Ornaments to commemorate first Christmas. So much fun. Oh and a little push toy to aid in walking. It's coming!!

I second the Laugh & Learn house. DD was 5 months last Christmas when Santa left it under the tree and she has enjoyed playing with it all year. She also still loves her Leap Frog picnic basket, Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Musical Mirror and Say Please Tea set, and large Mickey and Minnie plush she got last year as well.

Are you in my house? The tea set and mirror are well loved here too!

My niece was 7 months old last Christmas. I bought her a toy that was similar to the Laugh and Learn House, but it has drums. This year I bought her a plush rocker. It's a princess carriage with a white horse on the front that is detachable. I got it from Zulily.

Most toy type things we bought DS the first two years were from OompaToys. Rattles and such the first year.

First, it's not cheating to buy clothes. Clothing is a totally viable gift option, and was one that I loved for years. My son is 9 and still doesn't mind clothing as gifts.

Wrap up the hand-me-down toys! The baby will LOVE to tear that paper off, and won't mind even a tiny bit, won't even notice, that it's not new toys covered by the paper.

And third, possibly the most brilliant thing I did the first two years of DS's life was to take toys/clothes/whatever out of the boxes, wrap the items and wrap the boxes separately. I figured that kids always end up playing with the boxes (since I'm the oldest of 5 I've seen this, too). And playing with boxes "when I spent whatever on that gift" tends to hurt parents' feelings. So I made the BOXES the presents, too. And yep, he enjoyed the boxes just as much as, if not more than, the things that were inside the boxes. But since they were also gifts, I didn't end up with unnecessarily hurt feelings.

Besides baby toys. I always bought keepsake items at that age. Like silver cups, nice jewelry or piggy banks - special things they could keep forever. And then one other great gift at that age was a quality piece of luggage- with a design that will last the length of their childhood. My DD12 still uses hers.

I like the PP's idea of buying with the future in mind. They grow up very quickly.

I got my God daughter ( 4 months old at Xmas) a Disney Princess walker at Walmart. It has a light up Cinderella's castle on it! I also bought her first Xmas dress for her pictures at Carter's.
I want to get her so much more but she's too little yet!
We are taking her to Disney World for Xmas in 2015 does that count? :lmao: What can I say? I want to program her right starting at a young age!princess:

A lot of ways you can take this....

-Buys toys she will use in the next few months, like a first ride on toy etc. Since she has a Summer birthday this is not quite as helpful.

-Buy a American girl Bitty Baby. It will be a special first Christmas Gift and can sit on a shelf in her room till she is ready for it.

-Give a few toys and fill in with things she needs anyway. The huge boxes of diaper wrap up very nicely.

Remember that the same amount of gifts as this age, does not have to mean the same amount of money. A few small toys can stretch your money and still make Santa look good.

When mine was little babies I did not spend much on them at Christmas saved my money for when they was old enough to ask.

I was guilty of giving mine used toys...something new is something new they have no idea where it came from.

Extended family never was much on giving mine gifts I was pretty much on my own there.

For DS's second Christmas (he was 15 months) my favorite toys were Little People, he mostly just put them in his mouth at that age but still plays with them now. The Klippity Klop Disney Princess Little People sets look so cute (and girly) and would be used for a while. Also for DS first birthday we got him a Little Tikes Endless Adventures slide/castle/climber thing for his room. At that age he mostly just crawled through the tunnels but even now at three he plays with it daily. Maybe like a Little Tikes house or something would be fun for her to grown into.

DS will be 8 months at Christmas. Santa will be bringing him the Vtech Sit to Stand Alphabet train that was acquired second hand. We are thinking of getting him the Vtech go go smart wheels train set as his mommy daddy present. And of course he's getting his Christmas pjs and a cute Christmas board book on Christmas eve. His birthday is in march and we are redoing a second hand cozy coupe for him into an adorable bat mobile.

My 11 mth old dd will be receiving the Fisher Price Disney Princess Songs Palace with some princess figures for it, small purse with a plush penguin in it, Little Mermaid DVD, Fisher Price laugh and learn shopping tote with some play food, and these Itty Bitty Hallmark plush Disney princesses that are perfect size for her small hands. Were heading to WDW a couple weeks before Christmas so I'm limiting Christmas gifts this year because I know she will get a ton of stuff while we are at WDW. My ds is 2 and we already have a ton of baby toys so I wanted to get my dd some girly stuff.
