I know he wants a set of Transformers that he saw at Sams Club. And a Batman sword from Target. But other than that I have no idea.

He got a bike last Christmas. I was planning to get him Zhu Zhu pets because a few months ago he saw the commercial and wanted them. I bought the fun house, ramp/slide and car/garage. And have been searching for the hamsters. Of course NOW when the commercials come on he says he doesnt want them :confused3.

We usually keep the budget fairly low. Especially this year since we're taking him to NYC for Thanksgiving and giving him his first birthday party with his entire class on December 6 (he turns 5 on the 7th). But I could spend about $100 more.

Any ideas? What are your 5 year old boys into?

My youngest son just turned four in August. Some of his favorite birthday gifts that he got in August were a radio flyer scooter, spongebob lego set playmobil pirate set and a ds.

For Christmas he is getting a batman big wheels, playmobil boat and camper set, more wooden blocks (he will play with those for hours with ds11 and ds8 and dd5). Spike the dinosaur and spike junior and the imaginext boat and dragon fortress. You really can't go wrong with any playmobil or imaginext set. They are so well made and last and last, plus my boys play with them for years. If you go look at the playmobil website (or even amazon or toysrus) they have tons of different ones.

Also my boys love to play with their k'nex sets and big buckets of legos as well as their lincoln logs. Good luck....and have fun! Its such a fun and magical age to shop for!

My DS is a year older, but he has been very into legos for the past few years. He loves r/c cars. Anything Star Wars is a hit, too.

Batman Bat Cave/Castle playset for my DS 5, as well as Legos and the Andy's Room playset. Got a Leapster 2 last year, so possibly more games for that. Agree with above posts - playsets are always good - still playing with Pirate ship set from two years ago.

My son will be just shy of 5 on Christmas. We are getting him a moon bounce. So he can look like this, I guess :yay: We have a few small things for him like Bat Man mask that lights up, Star Wars action figures, and a full stocking.

I have to ask...what is the andy's room playset? My ds11 was sooooo into toy story when it originally came out. Now ds4 has gotten into it in the last year or so. We have older ds11 original woody and my four year old got a buzz for his birthday in august. But I think he is going to get REALLY back into it once the 3rd movie comes out.

Where can I see what this is, if you don't mind sharing? Oh, and we also had a moon bounce for a couple of years. The kids loved it, it was very safe, could be deflated and put away and gave them lots of fun! It just recently got another hole in it, and we had to throw it away. But it took a lot of hard use from four kids, and countless playdates and birthday parties! A nice, safe alternative to a trampoline.

My five year old son will be getting a lot of Haba block sets, he already has some and loves them. I think this year we might get into the more intricate ones, like the Japanese style ones, etc.. He will also be getting Legos.

Not sure what if anything else, as DH and I have been trying to reduce how much stuff is in our house- we've realized we just have a crazy amount of stuff and every Christmas and birthday it gets that much worse, partially our fault and in large part due to families who overdo it every time. We're trying to stick with things that fit in with existing collections that we know the kids play with, if that makes any sense.

We're also trying to gift more experiences than things, ie we might give the kids movie tickets or tickets to go to a play or something

Well DH and I both looked at the Toys R Us 2 day sale today - at different times - and when I told DH I had seen something that I thought would be good for DS he said he did too. And it was the same thing. It was the Vtech Vsmile Spongebob bundle for $29.99 http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3685658.

The unit itself is usually around $45 and games are about $20. So it's a pretty good deal. I also bought two other games on sale ($14.99 each). I think this will probably do it. DS LOVES computer games, DH's playstation, and a $10 plug in play game he has from Walmart. So this should be right up his alley. We'll plug it into our extra tv and he can play whenever.

I think that'll be it for us. That brings our Christmas total to around $100 and with his birthday party and his NYC Thanksgiving trip I think he'll be getting enough.
