What are you doing with the $$ saved from free dining?

We are going for 8 days. When I called yesterday to change our existing ressie to free dining, the savings was almost $900. Last year I upgraded to stay for the 1st time at a deluxe-AKL. This time we are planning on the the Princess & Pirate party and a day at Seaworld. My Dh wanted to upgrade again but I thought with the extra's we are doing, we would have to save too much more.

So what are any of you doing with the "savings"?

For me there was no savings as we didn't have a trip planned...

Actually, we added another day onto our reservation in the hopes that free dining would "pay" for it. LOL! If we don't get free dining, though, we will still keep the dates because all of our ADRs are made. :)

we're staying 3 extra nights!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

:wizard:   :wizard:

we didn't actually SAVE any money, seeing as we hadn't paid our original trip off...but i explained to dbf that since we will be saving sooooo much OOP money that we'd have to pay for food WITHOUT free dining, i was able to rationalize how staying 3 extra nights is still in our budget since we planned on PAYING for food! ha... gotta love it.

we added and extra nigt, extra day at parks and paid for airfare!!!

Upgrading to a deluxe.

I can't really say I'm "saving" money since I didn't already have a trip planned. I'm only going because of the free dining. It's the only way I can afford to stay at the Poly.

With all the various reasons and plans for the extra money, it's pretty clear Disney is no dummy when it comes to the free dining. They're not losing any money on this :)

Since we had already carefully budgeted for the whole trip including paid dining, we're planning on a souvenir spree with the savings - hopefully including something really nice at Art of Disney!

Well, we upgraded to deluxe. But I think we would have done that anyway after everyone here convinced me that we should just do what we want for our honeymoon and not try to cut corners. DF is obsessed with AKL since seeing the Great Hotels episode, so that is where we are staying.

Exactly!! LOL :wizard:

We're putting the almost $900 we saved back in our "vacation fund"; we're saving so Dh and I can go on a kids-free trip to Cancun sometime in 2008.:cool1:

I'm keeping most of it in my ING account where my vacation money is waiting. It's a savings of almost $800 that doesn't have to come out of that account now. Yay!

We'll probably do a Pirate and Princess Party and maybe buy a few extra souveneirs that we wouldn't have otherwise, but mostly we'll keep the extra in savings. At least until we take the 2nd trip to Disney that we won. We'll have to pay for most of the food ourselves on that one.
