What is up with trend for young people (college age) to wear socks with their sandals? Do you see this where you live?

It looks hot to me in the middle of summer.

Not sure about kids these days, but back in my day (80's & 90's) we wore socks with sandals aka birkenstocks all the time.

I know my son (he's 30) will sometimes take off his boots and put on slides and still have his socks on when he's off work or working on the boat.

About half of my employees wear slides or sneakers to work and after work, leaving their boots in the back of their trucks or trunks...but that is more a reflection of where we work vs. a fashion choice :P !

I don't get a pedicure... so the sweat from the sock keeps my heels from forming dangerous rough skin issues...I wear sandals 365 days...one of the benefits of living in the sunniest place on earth 🌍 🌍...huh. The other side of earth 🌎 🌎... there we are

I always wear sandals bare foot with a cute pedicure - all summer long.

If I needed socks I would wear loafers or runners.
I haven't found any shoes that have as good arch support as Birkenstocks. The arch in those things is huge. Walk 10+ miles around Disneyland and my feet feel great at the end of the night.

This trend has been around for quite awhile, you may just be noticing it for the first time now. When my girls were younger they used to watch a show called So Random on Disney Channel and they did a Socks With Sandals skit - so funny. To this day, when we see someone wearing socks with sandals we look at each other and say, "Socks with sandals! What what what!!!" :rotfl: I can't believe this video is from 14 years ago - crazy!!!

Socks with slide ons have become a gender neutral norm this way.
Nobody needs to worry about seeing me wearing them though😉.

On the bright side they seem to have replaced the furry sandals that look like house slippers which definitely made me go “Hmm”.

When I was a teen (late 90s/early00s) you would’ve gotten made fun of relentlessly for wearing socks with sandals. Or for wearing sweatpants. Or not having pants long enough to go to your shoes. Or wearing socks higher than your ankles. Or having a mustache only. Funny how trends change over time, and some of them end up repeating from previous generations.

I’m waiting for the 80s/early 90s style to come back. I used to love my hammer pants. Not really sure if the correct term but I think anyone from that time frame knows what I mean.

My kids had this look due to coming and going from dance, soccer and track. Boys wore slides but girls would wear bird as well.
