What are you doing on Sunday after the full marathon

Beer, ice bath, shower, nap, and then on to Raglan Road and Paradiso for some rehydration. The real fun is on Monday when we Drink Around the World at Epcot, and then stick around for the fireworks.

Yay Epcot Monday! I'll be there!

The talk of the ice baths makes me cringe. If you haven't tried it, I would highly recommend the 110% compression gear that you fit provided ice packs into. Very convenient and the added compression really does help. Can't recommend it enough. Most doctors say to take a cold shower or just use cold water in a bath without the ice. The course going by all those nice pools into Epcot really made it look like a great idea to just jump in the pool when you finish. :)

After the marathon, do some stretching while I walk to our motor home in the EPCOT parking lot, have some chocolate milk and then take a HOT shower. Get dressed, make myself breakfast and get out for a walk around EPCOT until DW gets back from her volunteer job at WWoS, should be around 2:00PM. See what she wants to do then drive back to FW.

Third Dopey Weekend in a row.

I have never iced after a race.

Another first timer here, but this is my plan...

I don't like to hang out in the post race area. I get my medal, take a water, have my picture taken and go straight to the bus.

First priority is food!!! Second is a hot shower. No ice baths for me. I found them to be useless torture. Lol. After that I will need to get myself out of my room. If I stay I will fall asleep and not want to leave for the rest of the day. I'll head over to the Contemporary where I'm meeting my WISH Duck teammates for celebratory drinks at the Outer Rim and then dinner at Chef Mickey's! I can't wait. :)

Actually, I will probably only ice after the 1/2 to help speed recovery for the full.

Sounds like my plan, but dinner at Whispering Canyon

After running three days straight, I need to rest all of Sunday to prepare for the real challenge - DATW!

The last few years, my wife and son (who run the 1/2 on Saturday) get to EPCOT around the time the park opens on Sunday. They have already seen me at MK, then make their way to EPCOT.

When they get there, they rent a locker and hit a ride or two while I plod my way to the finish.

When I'm done, we go into the park, get my change of clothes, hit the mens' room by the entrance, change, throw my race clothes into the locker.

Then we spend the day at EPCOT.

So is no one planning to go to the post-race party at DTD? We were planning on it, but may change our minds if it is gonna be a bust!

I kind of want to, but we have friends running the half who are flying out Monday morning so we're all planning to hang out at MK instead.

For those who have gone in past years, are we missing out?

CMIIW, isn't this the first year they're doing this?

After completing the marathon last year around 11am, I headed back to the CBR and showered and grabbed a quick bite to eat. I was tired and sore but way too wound up to lay down or sit anywhere, so I met my husband and daughters in EPCOT. They did a few rides and I grabbed an iced coffee, big chocolate pastry and watched the people. It was awesome walking the parks -pretty slowly:rotfl:- with my medal on. So many people with their Mickey, Goofy and Donald medals on and so much support from non-runners and cast members. Everyone makes you feel so special!:woohoo:

This year I'll be hopefully finishing around the same time. Running the marathon this year with my sis and BIL, my husband is our cheering squad! Right after the marathon we are headed for the DCL Dream to head out on a four day cruise! So excited!!!! Still going to wear my medal on the ship !

Because it is free and doesn't require a ticket, the general consensus is that it won't be worth it. Until it was mentioned in this thread, I forgot that it was even going to happen! :rotfl2:

I wanted to go for the characters and I wish they had made its hard ticket event. I definitely would have forked over the $$$$. Leaving it open to everyone just means crowding and lines. I'll spend my time getting a FP for Mickey at TH and get my pic with him wearing my shiny, new medal.

Fill up the bucket from the ice machine. Fill up the tub with the coldest water out of the tap. Get into the tub. Then dump the ice in. Much easier to take than jumping strait into the ice.

Yeah, the shower doesn't cut it. I also wear a warm lycra top and/or wrap a towel around my upper body to keep it warm.

Yep, that's pretty much what I do. Ice from the machine/ice bags that I'll pick up at the finish area.

Different things work for different people. I've never tried compression gear but I do know a lot of people swear by it. :thumbsup2 10-15 minutes in the ice bath has been working for me, so that's what I'll continue to do. :)

I too forgot about this until you mentioned it! From what I read it sounds like a fairly typical night at Downtown Disney, except that you can buy race merchandise there as well. :confused3 Downtown Disney is such a hassle to get to that I'll probably skip this. ETA: The party only goes from 4-8, so I know I won't go. We'll be eating dinner sometime between 5 and 7...no way would we have time to make it to Downtown Disney anyway.

Quote of the day... For me, I used to take hot showers and was sore for a couple days. Now I do a 15 min ice bath, then 15 min of elevating (lying down on the bed with legs up on like 4 pillows, or lying on the ground with feet up on a wall), then a quick massage by DW, THEN a warm shower to freshen up.

I find this drains all the bad stuff out of my legs, and then repopulates them so they're ready to go. I've then been able to theme park the same day without issue, and wake up the next day with a runner's high and no ill effects.

It has allowed me to do races on back to back weekends, back to back days, or just allowed me to continue my vacation without being out of it.

Try different things to find out what works for YOU. And by all means once you find out what works, stick with it... ::yes::

I don't know what I'm doing any days yet let alone race day. The only thing I know I'm doing for sure is CM on Monday morning.

I'm really struggling trying to figure out which parks on which days. We arrive at 9am Thursday and leave at 7pm Monday. We have 5 day tickets w/o hoppers.

Thursday - arrive and go straight to expo
Sunday - Marathon
Monday - CM at 8am

I need a vacation planner!

While not a full marathon, after the Disneyland Half Marathon, I ended up going straight to the parks to grab a couple of fast passes and ride a ride or 2 and eat lunch before going back to my Hotel to shower and take a nap followed by a busy weeks of vacation touring. And this was after the worst finish I'd had for a half marathon. I was stiff and sore for about 2 days but it was my first trip to Disneyland so I wasn't going to waste it. The worst part was standing up to leave after sitting on the ground for Fantasmic.

I hadn't thought about it, but since we'll be rehydrating at Raglan Road and Paradiso anyway, maybe we'll wander over to check it out.
