What are you doing on Monday?

I went to dinner at my local Mexican place last night. There was a sign on the door that said something to this affect:

To our valued customers:

As many of you know, Monday, May 1 has been designated as a date for rallies across the United Stated to support immigation law changes. As many of our Hispanic employess have already notified us that they will not be in to work that day, and our Hispanic food suppliers have notified us that they will not be making deliveries that day, we unfortunately are being forced to close for the day.

Please understand that we, the owners of "XXX" do NOT condone or agree with these actions. We immigrated here legally and built a life for ourselves, becoming American citizens and running our modest business through hard work and the support of our loyal customers.

We expect to reopen as usual on Tuesday and appreciate your understanding.



Personally if I were in that position, I would have told my employees that if they were scheduled to work on Monday and don't show up, they need not bother to come back on Tuesday. I'm sure that there are hundreds of teens and young adults in this area who would be more than happy for the opportunity to take their place.

I'm interested in seeing what our local Mexican restaurant does. Our newspaper has already published several Mexican restaurants who have said they would be closed. They are all smaller, less popular places. These guys were not on the list. At this place, we've gotten to know the manager very well as we go VERY often (too often - but that's another story ). He and my husband had kinda touched on this topic before, and he spends alot of time and money getting his friends and family members here legally. There are three restaurants here run by them, all of them closed on Sundays, and I'm curious what they will do tomorrow. We were there Friday night, and there was no sign or any indication that anything would be different, but we didn't come right out and ask either. The three restaurants are VERY popular in this area.

We ate at one of our local mexican resturants last night and I was wondering if they were going to have a sign on their door about monday. They did, only it was to say they were going to have a price increase in their lunch specials starting monday! I guess that means they are open!

I'm a speech therapist in the schools, so I'm going to work! We have a high latino population, so I am interested to see what happens. Lots of our kiddos walked out a few weeks ago. I'm pretty sure all my kiddos will be there, they rarely miss!

My usual days off are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

I will be shopping on Monday to support the AMERICAN economy.

Can anyone tell me why so many of the protesters carry signs that say "We are not criminals"? If you entered this country illegally...then didn't you commit a crime? No one seems to be able to answer this question for me!

I will be on jury duty.

I have that on Wedneday (and possibley Thursday.)

I have dental appt on Monday to get my cap put on a tooth (after a root cannal.) I might shop, but just because I normally do a little everyday.

Have things to pick up after all, we leave for WDW on Saturday!

Going out to dinner is always fun! Maybe that too! I will take any excuse I can get to spend money.
