What are you doing differently this trip because of CL?

So how is the opening of CL changing your upcoming visit? We are going for four days, and this trip we aren't planning to do the long waits for good spots at WOC or Fantasmic. I think with large crowds and four days, we don't want to take that much time out of visit for evening entertainment. If we can catch some viewing spots right before showtime, it will be a plus. We also planned four days because I think after four days of crowds, I will be ready for a break! I think, too, that we"ll end up park hopping less, as I imagine it will take more time to get in and out of the parks. What about you? What do you think will be different this trip?

Last time we went, we had no trouble getting a great promotional rate on the GCH, so right off the bat, this trip is going to be very different, as we are staying off site.

So, that means only one Magic Morning, which is different too for us.

I guess what I'm driving at is that a lot for us is different already, without factoring in what will be different in the parks themselves.

I know because of EMH that we'll see people in DCA in the morning, probably a line for RSR FP at the start of the day.

I suspect for us that in the past it made sense to start at DL in the morning, and if we wanted to hit DCA, to do so in the afternoon, when DL got crowded. It also seemed like DCA only needed a few hours on a couple of afternoons, and then one evening for WOC.

I think that'll go absolutely backwards this trip, we're going in mid July. We'll probably end up at DCA first thing every morning, getting RSR FP, possibly trying to ride the tires or TSMM, and then heading over to DL once the masses show up around 11 AM.

We will be at DLR and staying at the GCH which means every morning is an Early Entry. That means two mornings we will start at DCA and we rarely have ever done that. Plus we will likely reduce parkhopping and maybe not hop at all.

Still planning to see WOC and F!.

Thinking of not hopping at all. One day each park. Not bothering with WOC....by boys and dh have boycotted. Lol.
no amount of planning has ever gotten us a decent view that was worth the time invested for them. I think they'd much prefer to hang in nighttime CL and BVS shops.
Then day 2 will be DL only..... Maybe?

We will be giving up some nighttime show as well. Since my DD5 has never been able to stay awake for WOC we are going to see that. Both fireworks and F! are optional this trip. If we feel like we have the time we will fit them in. Plus, we may end up spending almost a full day at DCA, which we have never done. I say almost because DD5 will not go one single day with out riding IASW!

Our change is that we're not going

We moved our summer vacation to SoCal out to October 20. Our prediction is that it will be so crazy for the summer, especially between June 15 and July 15, that we would be miserable.

The hardest part is not looking at all the new attraction photos popping up. We want to keep it a suprise.

We did Fantasmic and WOC once and that was enough for us; so we won't be doing them this trip.

Well, because of Cars Land, we are flying to California instead of Orlando. That's about it.

I'm alternating between thinking our June trip will be a crowded mess to thinking it's completely doable. I have decided to firmly maintain that we will enjoy our June visit. We lived thru a NYE trip. Not only was it crowded, we were cold and wet. So we think pleasant weather and crowds will be an improvement.

What I'm doing differently -- got a theme view room at Paradise Pier. Figure if by evening we're fed up with crowds, we'll watch WOC from the room. We can watch fireworks from the pool deck, too.

We taking the Welcome to Disney tour. We'll get on three attractions no waiting, plus we're given bonus fast passes. I figure we'll use those for RSR. We've made a list of must do's. We'll use RideMax. I think the most important is just to maintain a "happy to celebrate" attitude. It will be crowded, but exciting because of all the new things to see and ride.

I'm thinking of surprising my family with a couple nights at the DLH, even though their rate this summer is pure extortion, for the EE benefits.

We booked the Fantasmic! Dessert seating. None of us have seen F! in a few years, so this is a nice treat. Since we knew about the Grad Nights on some of our days, we booked a dinner at the Napa Rose. We figure that night, we'll have dinner at 7 PM, then either call it a night or waddle into one of the Parks for a late night.

We have always done early admission, when it's been available to us, so that isn't deviating from our norm. It's just nice that by staying on-site, we'll get EE every morning.

Since my DD and I go on an almost annual Disney trek, (skipped last year, due to $$ and construction), we are considering not even getting near CL!
My DD loves DL and DCA, and we can always find something to enjoy without CL. We did this the year TSMM opened and avoided all that goes with it. I am sure the parks will be extra crowded, so we are doing 5 day hoppers and staying on site DLH (first time). We will get there and play it by ear. With the never before EE, we may go ahead and try to get there as early as possible one morning and see how it goes.

Above all, we WILL enjoy our Disney time, regardless of crowds, etc.

Since my DD and I go on an almost annual Disney trek, (skipped last year, due to $$ and construction), we are considering not even getting near CL!
My DD loves DL and DCA, and we can always find something to enjoy without CL. We did this the year TSMM opened and avoided all that goes with it. I am sure the parks will be extra crowded, so we are doing 5 day hoppers and staying on site DLH (first time). We will get there and play it by ear. With the never before EE, we may go ahead and try to get there as early as possible one morning and see how it goes.

Above all, we WILL enjoy our Disney time, regardless of crowds, etc.

With 5 days I don't see how you could NOT go to Carsland. From the preview reviews, Radiator Springs Racers appears to be DLR's biggest attraction since Indy. Even if you do nothing else in CL, I would at least get a FP for RSR one day and check it out. Or, like you said, take advantage of the Extra Magic Hour that they'll be offering!

That sentence implies that Indy is bigger than Radiator Springs Racers. RSR is much bigger, in my opinion. Far more WDW veterans are changing plans because of Cars Land than they ever did for Indy. In my opinion, it's the biggest since Splash Mountain opened.

We have (ok, I have) made a stricter schedule - planning and spreading out the attractions/shows/parks, etc. We spread out our night entertainment and are using the EMH for AP holders to hopefully see the new attractions early, before most of the crowds hit. 11 more days!!! We are so excited!

I'm expecting that at least for the first few months (probably longer than that, if the TSMM FP rush over at DHS is any indication) there's going to be a daily mad rush to the RSR FP machines when DCA opens. Maybe with everyone headed there first it will make TSMM more manageable (I didn't bother riding it on my trip this weekend, less than ten minutes after the ride opened for the day there was already a 50-minute wait on Sunday, and this was a relatively low-crowd day in DCA.) I suspect I'll probably need to plan a bit more carefully than my usual wing-it style, and try to get a few FPs accumulated early on in the day for use later in the afternoon.

For the most part, until now I've mostly stuck to the off-season for my trips, but with my AP expiring at the end of August and renewal being a lot harder to justify for an extra $150 (I could switch to a Deluxe instead of a Premium, but between the parking, blackout days and discounts I'm pretty sure I've more than made up the difference, and I've only used it for nine days,) going in the offseason just isn't quite as feasible this time around.

Because of Cars Land we made our trip longer we originally were going to just do four days but with all the Cars Land hoopla we extended to 7 days just so we don't have to rush and we can take it all in.
