We discovered a new game in our house this weekend. DH has a laser level, and dear dog loves to chase the red dot around on the carpet and everywhere else in the living room. Of course, with any laser pointer, be sure not to point the laser beam near the eyes.

Of course, tug and fetch are popular, but "chase the laser point" has provided amusement for the whole family!

What is your dog's favorite game to play?

omg - my dog used to LOVE that game (until we lost our laser pointer) I could just sit on the couch and run that thing around the room...she'd go NUTS! It would just crack us up at how she really tried to catch it!

right now...her favorite game outside is frisbee (she's good too) or soccer inside. she has a squishy soccer ball...dh puts her in the archway from the kitchen to the great room (aka - the goal) and DH tries to score on her. Again - she's pretty good! heheh

Be careful with the laser game -- my neighbor was playing with his pitbull/lab mix and ran the laser down the hallway and up the wall. The dog put his head right thru the wall! He was fine -- big ol' hard head -- but the wall had a huge hole in it!

Right now since he is still a puppy his fav is "nip at my ankles while I wash dishes" :teeth: . We start puppy training on Tuesday, so hopefully that one will be a game of the past very soon.

He likes tug of war, but we are trying to not play it too much until he gets a little older. I guess his favorite thing right now is during our walks when he gets about a block away and realizes we are almost home we say "home Dash" and he takes off on a dead run and doesn't stop until he's in our yard. It is the cutest thing :goodvibes

BTW - meant to tell you...that's the cutest name for your pup!

One of our games is I will hide behind the bedroom door, and DH will say "where's mommy?" Duncan will check every place but behind the door, and I've been hiding there for four years now! lol It's the only place I hide.

We also play ring around the kitchen island. See how many times we can get him to go around before he gets smart and goes the other way.

Thank you! It fits him so well, we've been calling him Dasher Man also. That was my one thing I insisted on when we decided to get him, it had to be a Disney name. We all sat and watched The Incredible's 2 nights ago, DD11 wanted Dash to see who he is named after. ( :ssst: I fell alseep and missed most of it though.)

eeyore74 that is so cute about hiding in the same place each time. Maybe by not finding you he is prolonging the game for more fun, very smart dog.

we use the laser on our cats. ;) But Blossom (ddog) loves tug o' war.

Monty loves to play tug. He's known for picking up a favorite tug toy, walking over to you with it, and sort of whacking you in the knee until you play tug with him.

If that doesn't work, he'll play tug with Dodger.

Dodger loves keep away. His favorite thing is to pick up one of Montys toys and run around with it, literally "dodging" Monty. He was aptly named.

Both also love clicker training. It's like a game for them learning a new trick. :goodvibes

We used to love playing that with our dog when lasers were popular. She used to always chase it around and try to catch the dot with her paw.

Of course she loves to play fetch, and also run around the kitchen and dining room. :teeth: Someone will be on one end, and she'll be on the other. If she runs one way, the other person runs the other way so she can't catch them. Eventually she'll get mad and start barking.

Also in the summer, she loves playing volleyball. When we're in the pool, we bring a rubber ball with us in the pool, while she stands up on the deck. We throw the ball to her and she always hits it back up in the air to us with her nose.

Dot loves catch. She will play for hours.
She also loves the lazer light thing. Cracked me up the first time. I knew cats would chase it but had no idea she would!!

Dogs are funny people aren't they? :dog2:

minnie likes to be chased around the coffee table with a toy in her mouth and she aplays with her half sister daisy

daisy likes to chase her toy down the hall and she drops it

Tucker loves to find clothing or shoes (DH's motto: Where it lays it stays) and proudly bring it down stairs to me. It's his form of tattle tailing! He's very proud of this little game.

Loves to eat socks......

Petey is a fetchaholic. If I say "where is it? go get it!" he'll dash all over the house looking for the favored toy of the moment to fetch with. He'll come and lay it on my leg if I'm sitting and if I'm standing he shoves it into the back of my leg. I guess that's supposed to be a not so subtle hint. He enjoys playing chase and he likes to race my 6 yr old nephew. He's very smart and will quickly pick up any game you teach him, he just likes the attention.

Fetch. It's not a game, it's a job.

Most of the time its frisbee, but we are not permitted to choose the item to throw, he will handle that. If we pick up the wrong frisbee/ball/toy, of the 10-15 that are laying around our feet, we'll need pay more attention and try again. He'll wait (staring intensely) until we throw the right one.

Life with a border collie. :goodvibes

Oddly enough, my dog plays poker.

Maximus like to play "Keep away from Mommy". He takes his ball and then wants me to chase him around the house. It's the funniest thing. He come up to me with his ball and shakes his head and wants me to chase him. :dog2:
