What are you allowed?

I have been trying to find out what you are allowed to take into the parks with you.
Are you allowed to care water bottles and snack items such as granola bars into the parks with you?

Most definitely! :thumbsup2 I have thermal insulated bottles and carry packs of Crystal Light. I get ice water at just about every walk up place with no trouble at all.

While I've never done this, I've seen people retrieve complete lunches from their backpacks. Sandwiches, chips, drinks, fruit, snacks....you name it! I've even heard tell of people that bring in soft-sided insulated coolers, stick them in a locker, and go back to get them for lunch or dinner. The Disney Po-Po guards are just looking for anything "terrorist" when they do bag checks.

Yes. People even pack sandwiches in a back-pack to take in. They do inspect any purses, fanny packs, back-packs, camera bags, diaper bags etc, so be prepared for that.

AFAIK the only things against the "rules" are rolling coolers (really anything on wheels that you pull behind you) and glass containers (except for medications).

Take as much as you feel like lugging around in a backpack. :)

The kids are the ones that benefit....it is so much cheaper to feed your kids that way. Since you cannot take a rolling cooler as mentioned about, we take two small lightweight coolers in our backpack for things that need to stay chilled.

And we have some good thermos things that keep our water and juice for the girls cold.

The only restrictions I know of are......no alcohol, no glass, and no coolers over a certain size. Now having said that I did witness them
allowing a European family to take a small bottle of wine into the MK.

We were there last week & saw lots of people with the rolling coolers. I'll be doing that next time as well!

Are you speaking of the soft rolling coolers or the hard, plastic ones? I've seen the small, rolling suitcases - but that's about all. Not disagreeing, just have never seen rolling coolers. Coolers! How COOL is that? :rotfl:

We bought a soft rolling cooler at Sam's Club specifically for our trip.

I was surprised by the number of people wheeling in huge coolers when we were there last week. I didn't think that was allowed - but I saw plenty of people doing it.
We almost always pack our lunch into the parks. I use the kid's soft sided school lunch boxes. We take sandwiches, fruit, yogurt tubes, juice boxes, anything.
We save our money for Dole Whips. :lovestruc:lovestruc:lovestruc

Are there any personal items I should not bring with me into the theme parks?

Hey there. I looked pretty close, because once I saw them & realized what was happening, I got jealous. I thought they were not allowed as well, and I had never seen one before at the parks. I saw enough to be surprised at how many there were. I am sure when we go with one, we'll get stopped at the gates & not be allowed to bring it inside.

Most were soft sided ones, but I did see at least one hard cooler. It had a hard top with indentions for cups/cans.

Later, MJ

I have never seen these wheeled soft coolers. Does anyone know where you can find them?

Take as much as you feel like lugging around in a backpack.

1) Some people bring such large ones, big enough to scale Everest.
2) Not the one in Animal Kingdom, but the real one.
3) All kidding aside, there are few restrictions.
. . . no rolling coolers
. . . no glass bottles (other than medications and baby food)
. . . no alchohol (the drinking kind, not the rubbing kind)
4) Some of the things I have seen brought in
. . . water bottles
. . . soda pop
. . . candy bars
. . . granola
. . . sandwiches
. . . cans of tuna

Rolling cooler are definitely on the "no no" list, but maybe with the heat lately they've been relaxing that particular rule. :confused3

Then again, we all know how good Disney is at enforcing their own rules.

This is interesting. Not only did we see several rolling coolers last month, but I also saw several people with those folding chairs that fold into a walking stick - the kind people take on golf courses, if that makes sense? There were a bunch of kids wearing those wheelie shoes too.
It's ridiculous that they emptied out my stupid diaper bag to look at each diaper and tube of butt paste, and then don't seem to care about their actual rules being broken. :confused3

When I was waiting in the search line one morning at MK the lady in front of me explained away her bag o' lunches by saying her kids had food allergies and she had packed lunch. No questions asked after that.

This is interesting. Several years ago, I saw a couple that had created a "tandem" ECV. It was a 2nd seat that attached to the ECV and followed along on wheels. Hubby drove the ECV, wife rode the seat in back.

If you are unable to get a locker you will have to lug all that stuff with you - what to do with it all while you are on the rides or attractions.
I just packed sandwiches and a few smaller water bottles (refill them at water fountains) My DD7 wanted to carry snacks in her fanny pack - so I had her carry the granola bars and packs of fruit gummies.

When I am at the parks I don't want to carry a lot of "stuff" with me all day. Gets quite annoying- with the crowds and just becoming tired from all the walking...

my 2 cents
