Myself, wife and 15 month old daughter head to the magic shortly. It's her first trip and today at Nursery she completely freaked at a puppet?! I'm so worried she's going to hate everything! I think we'll need to keep a distance from characters and just play it by ear. So worried though we're going to put her off for life!

theres so much more for little ones to do at DLP, even if she doesn't want to see any characters up close.

Have a fabulous family time :goodvibes.

My son and nephew both hated big characters when they were little ones.
I remember one occasion where we booked a character meal at Haven or somewhere and there were 2 big rabbits, my son refused to look up or eat anything.
Both my son and nephew had their first Disney trip when they were 5 and both were fine, my sister was really worried how my nephew would react earlier this year but he absolutely loved it.

So play it be ear and even if she's not comfortable with the characters now, I'm 99% sure she'll come around when she's a little older. :goodvibes

I would try her with face characters first they seem less scary x

Thanks folks! :thumbsup2

Will see what happens but hopefully she'll love it and my fears will all have been unecessary! :rotfl2:

I hope so :)

That's really common for littlies to be anxious around characters which aren't human...
I'd suggest you pick one or two characters, maybe mickey and pooh or something like that. Read lots of stories around those two, show her pictures etc... get her to 'know' them, then when she see's them for real they are less likely to be scary giant plastic faces, and more likely to be familiar faces, so she'll be happy to see them!

My daughter has never been one for cuddles with characters, she went to DLP for the first time age 2. She has got better with time, and lots of talking about the trips, and looking back at photos. She now will talk about 'Mickey Mouses house' very fondly, and when asked 'what shall we do today?' she'll often say either go to Paris, or to Disney Land. Always a positive step!

I'm sure you'll all have a lovely time! If you do nothing else, make sure you go to 'Playhouse disney live'......it's MUST see at that age!! Small world and dumbo, casey jr, & il pays (story boat next to casey jr) are also lovely at that age!

be wary that Pinocchio, snow white, peter pan, the haunted house, and pirates are all of a similar theme inside, i.e. if she's frightened by one, they'll all be scary, but if she can do one, then she'll be ok with them all I think! (add Buzz to that too....)

Wetestes DD with the dragon before going on any of these rides see how she felt with the darkness and noise. She was fine we have been really lucky that she has never been scared of any character or ride. Family members she hasn't seen for a week yes a dog ten times bigger then her no :rotfl2:

Thanks for the feedback - if all else fails, we'll have some fun in Sequoia Lodge for a few days!! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Would love to hear your thoughts on SL when you get back, I'm not a fan after previous experiences there, but the boys loved it and as OH has never stayed there and I am rather impressed with the Bambi makeover, I've booked it for next March.
