Still learning all about this, but what is the likelihood that there would be either a 2 bedroom villa or a grand villa available at BWV or OKW the week of 12/24-12/31 2004?? I know, I must be crazy, but it doesn't hurt to ask :teeth: If anyone is renting points for this please let me know! Also, do points still rent for around $10 each during holiday times?
Thanks princess:

Someone may have this already booked and available. It is not uncommon for a premium to be charged for what may be the most desirable of all weeks at WDW --- especially for New Year's Eve.

I'm not sure if you looked at the points chart. For a check-in of 12/24 and check-out of 1/1/2005 the BWV GV would run 1,124 points. The OKW GV would be 816 points. The BWV 2 bed (preferred) would be 568 points and the OKW 2 bed would run 505 points. The points are especially high this year because 12/24, 12/25 and 12/31 fall on Friday and Saturday nights.

Whoa! I just had to comment on this. So, if the ressie is available, it would cost $11,240 at $10 per point. You can buy a 150 point contract for about that, on the resale market. I think, if I were you, I'd be more inclined to postpone this trip for a year, buy a 150 point resale with points currently available, and bank and borrow points for a 2-bedroom for Christmas of 2005. (You'd still need to rent a few more points, Christmas 2005 in a OKW 2-bedroom would probably cost 505 points.) For about the same money, you'd get ownership of a DVC contract, with vacations for 38 years paying just dues.

Maybe you can get a nice off-site suite or condo for this Christmas.

As Pam says, people often book DVC rooms up at the holidays so they can rent them. A lot of DVCers object to this, because it takes rooms away from members at prime times. But, if price is no object, yes, you can probably find someone with a 2-bedroom or GV to rent that week.

i have a 3br/3ba villa at marriott's newest resort in the area...getting rave reviews, MARRIOTT GRANDE VISTA, for the dates 12/24-31. i will sell this week for $1499. e-mail me if interested at pchpie@yahoo.com

Just wanted also to remind you though. Christmas and New Year's are the busiest times in the parks. So if you do stay off site understand that they close the parks because they get full very early. After that the priority of admission is to those people staying on property first. I was down for this past New Years, the Magic Kingdom stopped admitting at 10am, that means if you have dinner reservations in one of the parks and cannot get in you are out of luck. With reservations at that time credit cards are required and there is a 24 hour cancellation policy.
