We have our trip coming up in 2 weeks, all paid for a family of 6 at ASMU family suites. My 15 y/o may not be coming with us due to medical issues. We won't know until next week if they will be placing him in a facility. If he doesn't go, will I be able to change my reservation to a family of 5 and get the portion I paid for him back? Just wondering, thanks

Are you certain you paid extra for a 15 y/o? Everything on the Disney web site says the extra charge is for more than 2 adults in a room. I know from experience, that they only consider someone 18 or over as an adult, as far as the resorts are concerned.

No I don't believe you paid extra for him. The family suites sleep 6 as normal occupancy.

Is this a package with tickets added? If it is, then I'm not sure if you can do changes 30 days out, but I'd call Disney and ask them.

If you can't change, then you can reassign his ticket to someone else after the trip (if you're going back again before the end of next year, as now they "seem" to have an expiration date).

If you have a package with tickets and/or DDP, you should be able to take him off the reservation and get a refund for that portion. Keep in mind that changes made to a package 30 days or less from arrival are subject to a change fee ($50, unless it's changed), so any refund could be the cost of the item(s) minus the change fee. If you have RO, you didn't pay anything extra for him as others have stated; however, if you booked RO and purchased tickets separately, you wouldn't get a refund on the tickets as they are non-refundable.

Sorry for my vagueness :(
I booked the room with a pin code but got put in a package, 6 day php + and disney dining plan...thanks everyone for your responses so far :)

As mickeynut1 said, if you booked a package (room with tickets and/or dining), you can get his package components refunded (minus a $50 change fee since you are less than 30 days from check-in) refunded. This has to be done at least two days prior to check-in. If you purchased tickets separately, there is no refund.

I'd never take a pin code and do a package and dining plan. Dining plans cost more than paying OOP for most folks, and making it a package has restrictions. I'd do it free (done it a few times) but it's always too much food and not the way we eat (but DD and I did enjoy the QSDP last couple of times, free, and took home a boatload of candy and snacks with the extra credits).

Good luck!

I called Disney Travel tonight and was able to remove my son and will receive a credit to use while at Disney and once checked out will get the balance left over on the card used to book the vacation...Sweeeet!!
