what are the odds of FD pin becoming public offer?

Now that the FD pin has been out about a week and I have not received one I am starting to get a little down. I really want to go back to Disney this summer, but I am not going to go unless I get a good discount. Just curious if anyone thinks the FD pin will turn into a general public discount. If so when?

I usually say that Disney is addicted to their special offers and FD is one they love to wheel out. I don't have a good feeling that they will this time. Have they offered the general public FD for the summer the last few years?? I checked mousesavers and it didn't look like they did.

That said DW finally caved and said she would go on a late May - early June trip. We just need that FD PIN!!!!

Free dining has not been offered to gen public during early summer months. At least not to the US I believe it has been offered to overseas residents. This is the best deal since the 4/3 free deal too. There is a little hope. I got the first set of free dining pins (for value & mods only). I called and booked within 2 hours of release. No values were available for my dates (July 23 - 30). I booked anyway in a value suite just to book. I called this morning just to see if a reg room was avail. Not only were my original dates avail. but rooms at all value resorts and preferred room were avail. IMO, many people either didn't place their deposits or just cancelled. Disney reps are not foolish they are watching their summer weaken. Last summer we were there the weekend after 4th of July. The parks were not that crowded while Universal met capacity that whole week. Yes Universal got "new" rides but still. My point is Disney has to be pretty desperate to offer free dining during their most busiest season. It's a constant flow of people 3 months in a row.

I agree that bookings must be low in order for them to offer the FD the 3 months of the summer. I am hoping that it creates enough to offer the FD to the general public. I never seem to get a pin. We were planning to go back this June but today I began pricing cruises. I just can't justify going if we do not get a deal and the room only discount is not enough.
