What are the not to miss things at Epcot

A quick Kidcot note -

My DD (7) loved asking each person what they call Mickey Mouse in their home land. It was a real education. She is already picking a different character to ask about next trip!

BTW - In some countries Mouse becomes Moose! It was a big laugh for her:p

Here are some of my favorites...

The Voices of Liberty at American Adventure are wonderful...
Off Kilter is a hoot...
The miniature railroad in Germany is fun and kids seem to love it...
The Statues in Italy (formerly in France) are terrific...
Look for characters in hidden corners of the various countries in World Showcase.
Miyuki the candy lady in Japan is amazing...
The World Showcase Players in the UK are very amusing...

What is Malestrom, sounds like Men are taking over(LOL) Never been to this one either:rolleyes:

Thanks so far for all the great ideas, it is so great to see all the different opinions. If I would have never found these boards, I would have gone clueless again:eek:

vicnmickey,
Maelstrom is the boat ride in Norway. They now offer Fastpass for it.

That's a Great idea! I'm writing that one down for my next trip!

Thanks!

The kidcot stops are table where the kids can make masks and talk to the native CM from each country. Go ahead and splurge the 10 bucks per kid and get them their own passport-- even the 4 year old will like it-- it comes with STICKERS. They put the stickers in the right country and get it stamped in each country. The CM's are great-- they will write a message to the kids in the native language! The kidcot stops close at 8pm though-- plan carefully-- last summer I though the 5 and 3 year old were going to string us up because Canada's kidcot was closed! But no worries, the great CM at the Roots store stamped it for them!

My favorite thing at epcot are the drummers at Japan. They are awesome.

Other can't miss attractions.
Test Track
Body Wars if you don't get motion sick
Honey I shrunk the Audience
El Rio de Tempo not so much for its excitement but because it of history (not mexico's but how we viewed Mexico in the 80's when the ride was made.
Maelstrom a decent ride skip the movie at the end if you are in hurry.
Chinese acrobats

Test Track, Imaginum (living statues near Italy), Off Kilter (Canada), Maelstrom (Norway), Restaurant Marrakesh (Morocco) for the lunch special, seeing the CM's cruise around on their Segways.

Our family LOVES Food Rocks! However, I must warn you - it gets low ratings from every guidebook. I can't figure it out  - I think the attraction is so clever and fun, AND some great music!

We also love Drinking Around the World Showcase. However, my husband and I weanie it, sharing a beer in each country. It is still fun, and I can't believe how many people we have met doing this!

My daughters were enthralled with Food Rocks! We had to go back twice. In fact, the Land pavilion was the one we enjoyed the most in EPCOT--we enjoyed all of the shows and the food court.

Voices of Liberty!! I love them! They are great! Also, make sure and watch one of the shows by the performers in UK. Its a play on King Arthur and its mad funny! Watch the acrobats in China, they are really good! And the drummers in Japan rock!

I almost forgot about Food Rocks! It has to be one of the best shows at Epcot!!!

Also, the Behind the Seeds tour at the Land. It only costs a few dollars and you receive a guided tour backstage at the Land. Very educational yet fun!

We returned this past week. Our favorites were the World Showcase Players - A Live Comedy Show (watched while eating a pastry from France) and LeMime Roland: A Visual Comedy Act.

I'm suprised no one mentioned Ice Station Cool in Future World, where Coca Cola lets you sample sodas from around the world

(Be sure to try the Beverly soda HEH HEH)

All the movies are good, but we like the movie in France the best. It also has the nicest theater - very relaxing and with seats! Also, get a good spot for Illuminations so you can see the reflection of all the fireworks and fountains on the water. That makes it so much better. Try to see the Pledge of Allegiance/flag ceremony out in front of the American Pavilion and the Voices of Liberty singers inside. I agree with the other posts that these singers are fantastic.

There are so many things to discover at Epcot and I never leave there without some new "favorite" whether that be a unique souvenir from a shop in WS or a new snack from one of the "countries". One thing that I love to do is discover hidden nooks and quiet places where you can just sit back, relax and take it all in. World Showcase IMO has the best atmosphere in all of WDW and people who just rush through miss SO much. :D

My list of of must-see/do things at EPCOT:

Shows:
- The British Invasion! (UK (UK)) If you love the Beatles, this is a must! you'll really enjoy listening to them play, and singing along to, your favorites!!!

- The World Show Case Players (UK). The do a very funny rendition of King Arthur and the Holy Grail (and if you're "lucky", they might pick you to play King Arthur or Galahad!)

- Imaginum (Italy). The living statues are hilarious!! They've just relocated from France to the Italy pavillion.

- OrisiRisi at the African Outpost. You can join in playing African drums.

- Le Mime Roland (France). Very funny. Your kids may get some balloon sculptures.

Lou E. G. (Italy) - Also very funny!

Rides:

- Test Track -- 65 mph in an open car through high banked curves!
Hint: use the single-rider line. My experience is that this is quicker than Fast Pass.

- Maelstom (Norway) - This ride has two small drops, but is suitable for those who can't handle wild rides.

- Splendid China - This movie has some awesome scenery of China's wonders.

- Impressions of France: Very beautifully filmed. The classical music soundtrack is also great!

Food:

For lunch, I would recommend the steak-burger at Le Cellier in
Canada. Delicious!

For dinner, I would recommend any of these restaurants;

- Nine Dragons (China)
- Alfredo's (Italy)
- Restaurant Marrakesh (Morocco)
- Akershus (Norway)

Also, make sure you visit the Patisserie in France. Lots of pastries
to choose from. (And it all has no calories. Really! Honest!)

Ice Station Cool is a great place to relieve your thirst without having to fork over any cash! You can sample several different
sodas from all over the world. My favorites are Tai from Brazil, and Kinley from Israel. My advice: drink the Beverly soda at your own risk!:D
