What are the initials on the Fantasmic mountain?

DH noticed some initials "carved" onto the mountain after Fantasmic. We've never noticed them before. What do they stand for? Our guess is Roy Disney.

I don't know for sure if they ARE initials, but I do know the "rock formation" shapes (indentations) you're talking about.

Could be RD (making it a "Hidden Roy", I guess) but I've never heard it mentioned as such.

I never noticed this - where is it located on the mountain?? Does anyone have a pic??

oooooooo I wanna see a pic too! I never even noticed that

Dead-center of the "mountain".
BIG "letters" (I'd say as tall as Mickey... including his ears.)

I really think that they are more a "trick of the lights and shadows" rather than a true hidden "anything", but its fun to discuss.

I'll see if I can find any pix that show enough of this "aberation" to see...
its very subtle and can't be seen from every angle.

I created this still image from a video tape I shot.

It was pretty dark when I recorded this, so I lightened it in Photoshop.
(But I did not "enhance" it or modify it other than the lightening.)

The "R D" (or whatever) "carving" is dead-center.
Looking at it again, I'd say the "R" is much taller than Mr. Mouse... more like 8 to 10 feet tall.

What do YOU think?

MuuuuuAhhhh - hah - HAAAAAAAaaaa!

That's really cool. I never noticed that before. It could be a hidden Roy. I wouldn't be suprised. Those imagineers hide everything about Disney

I knew someone would back me up! I just can't believe in all our visits that we've never noticed this before, nor I have ever seen it mentioned in a guidebook or on a message board...not that it hasn't been mentioned but I missed it if it was. Another question I keep meaning to ask here....before the remodel of Small World, at the end where there is "goodbye" in a bunch of languages...there was one that I would swear was "Sah Waht de Krap". Now that to me is Say, What the Crap. Anyone know if that's really goodbye in some language or was it a little joke? It's gone now.

It is Thai...I found this by doing a search: "This Thai gesture means hello and welcome. Sawat-Dee, Krap Sah-Waht-Dee, krahp means hello". So...its real, not an inside Disney joke!!! :rotfl2:

They are not letters or initials carved into the mountain. Those are the doors that open so that the dragon can come out. They are not meant to be letters at all. They are simply large doors that have been given irregualr shapes so they don't stand out to much.

Oh no!! All I can see is a red x.....

no wait - after I made this post, the picture appeared. I can tell it is doors too!! Oh well. We can pretend the doors are shaped like letters for the mystery of it :thumbsup2

It does exist:

I still don't see doors. I see letters. Maybe it's like those little visual games where you either see a young woman or an old woman.

As for Small World, thanks for clearing that up. I'm glad to know it's really a phrase.

DH won't let me get the Hidden Mickeys book. He says he can just see me dragging him all over WDW so I can cross them all off a list.

Well there goal was to make them not look like doors. But I assure you they are doors and not letters.

OK, here we go.

The top image is "as-is", the bottom is with the DOORS "darkened".

(Hope the DRAGON doesn't escape.)

Thanks Robo. Now I see it. For some reason that photo gives me the creeps though. Sort of like that kid that's supposed to be in the shadows in Three Men and a Baby.

Peter, I didn't mean to imply I doubted you. Thanks for the info!

yeah i've never seen those things anything more than doors. Intresting how the world seems from somebody elses eyes.
