We are arriving on 19th August until 4th Sep2006, and I just wondered how busy it would be, we have always vowed we would never go to WDW in the summer holidays due to the crowds but now DS is 14 and DD is 11 can't really take them out of school anymore, shame coz it's costing me a fortune to go at this peak time. DD will also be celebrating her 12th birthday while she is there what would be nice to do in the evening for her to make her day extra special. Any help given will be recieved with many thanks.

We go during the end of August too. Last year we went the second to the last week and it was very manageable using FP. The year before we went end of Aug/beginning of Sept. week and it was very quiet, but it was also before a major hurricane. It was 98 everyday this last trip, so we went to the parks in the morning and then headed to the pools in the afternoon. The only day it rained was when Katrina came by.

The second half of August is better than the first part, but it will still be fairly crowded. But you've got a nice long trip planned and should have plenty of time to see everything. I wouldn't worry. Be sure to plan on afternoon breaks from the heat...very, very hot and humid in August.

We have been twice in august. Last year it was the middle 2 weeks and this year the last 2 weeks. If you can handle the heat this is a great time of year to go!!! This year we had almost no waits for anything until labor day week end and then they we only 30 minutes or so.

We were there Aug 29-Sept3 this year. There was myself, DH, DS11, DS13, and DS14. We opened every park(No EMH) Walked onto every ride--did some twice. Saw most everything we wanted to see by noon, Had lunch, usually caught a 1pm show and then went back to our room for a swim/shower/ lay down. We didn't go very fast since DH just finished chemo a month before and also needs new hip and knees. The heat and humidity were beyond imagination. Had supper beteen 5:20/5:50 Then went to what ever park we were seeing a light show or went to Disneyquest.

I had not planned on going back to the room in the afternoon, but we saw lots, everyone was tired and getting a little grumpy and it was sooooo hot.

It rained every day. If it rained around 2 it was short lived, but if it rained around 4 it lasted about an hour.
The heat and humidity are awfull but we were able to walk right on to rides. So i guess it all works out. Your at Disney so it is Magical.
