So we are waiting on our Southwest points and found flights that worked for our vacation. And today I looked (mind you flights came out yesterday) the return flight we wanted is sold out. Is there any chance SW will do anything? Like maybe open up another flight..can people cancel and those seats show up? So frustrated,

No, Southwest doesn't add flights once their schedule is opened. However, people do cancel, so keep checking or plan on another airline or travel another day or time.

There have already been threads started here today about sold out flights on Southwest. Must have been a lot of people waiting for the schedule to be released.

I would keep checking multiple times per day for seats. They may add extra WGA seats or get a cancellation.

Keep watching. I wanted to switch to an early flight and both earlier flights were sold out. Then by the night they weren't sold out anymore.
