We called disney for a trade into St. John for next year (february break or april break)...do you think we have a good chance of getting it?

I hope that you get it! The Westin is great. We put in for a trade for July 2007. Good Luck! :goodvibes

I'd say your chances for that time are slim to almost none. One resort for 2 weeks only. You should look for a private exchange or rent your points and rent there.

WOW still waiting? How long ago did you put in for it? How long will you wait it out? I would guess airfare gets really expensive if you wait too long right?

I remember seeing a post about the Westin on St. John here, and it seems like the person said that the villas are across the street from the beach and up a hill. I don't know if that's true or, if so, if it matters, but you might be interested. I'd really love to go there when the kiddos are a bit older, so it'd be great to get some feedback if you and the other poster get reservations. In the past, DH and I were a lot more adventurous about where we'd travel and didn't worry so much about rooms and stuff, but now I feel like I have to at least consider logistics a little bit. ;)

We put in for it in 10/05. You are put on a waiting list so the earlier the better. We will wait until 1/07 and if it doesn't come through, we will change our plans.

We stayed in the villas last year (private rental, not points), and yes, it is true, however:

1) It is still quite walkable; 5 -10 min. tops depending on the location of your villa. You would do FAR more walking at any of the Disney resorts as they are much larger.

2) If you don't want to walk, they run an "Iguana Taxi" (glorified golf cart tram) to the "Iguana stops" around the Westin every 15 min or so. Each set of villas has an Iguana stop.

3) The beach at the Westin is the least desireable beach on the island (man-made, no natural beauty). Instead try any of the north shore beaches, easily reachable by taxi (taxis are quite reasonable) or better yet, rent a jeep and see the whole island! It is gorgeous - not to be missed!

4) The Westin pool is very nice - I'd use the pool before the beach there

I am starting to feel negative about this waitlist...maybe I should make a plan b for next year incase it doesn't come in.
