What are the best shoes to wear to DL for a long day of walking?

I'm not sure about the shoes, but I would highly recommend buying a pair of SmartWool socks. Another poster mentioned these a while back, so I tried them on my recent trip. They made a big difference.

They come in two versions, light cushion and heavy cushion. I went with the light cushion.

They aren't cheap, I bought them at REI for $15. But I think they're worth it.

CROCs :rotfl2:

We wear Keens most of our days at the parks.

DW swears by her Crocs and then DD will wear her good support FlipFlops some times as well.I tend to switch between my Keens, NorthFace watershoes and Ecco watershoes. They all have great support and ventalation and dry real fast.

I was wondering the same thing. I am wanting something with a little more support than crocs and was looking at The Walking Company this week. Thinking I could wear them every day before my trip in a little over a week. Which is probably a stupid idea, and I should just wear my tennis shoes that I am accustomed to walking in regularly. ha!

But those walking shoes all look so cool. And are so expensive.

Wear whatever shoes you have already that are comfortable. In my personal experience, buying new shoes immediately before or during any event that involves a lot of walking usually results in the buyer having sore feet. That being said, if you have a week or more before hand to buy new footwear and get used to them, you should be fine. :)

And for what it's worth, I'm a huge fan of Chaco sandals.

Crocs, too. Yeah, they are ugly, but it beats having your feet hurt all day. I've seen girls at DL wearing stilletos. Ouch.

I wear my Mary Jane crocs all the time when I am in theme parks. I think they look nicer than the regular beach crocs and are just as comfy. Plus if I am going on rollercoasters or rides where your feet dangle they will not fall off as they have the bar across the top of your foot.

I don't like Crocs. I have some and they just don't give me enough support and after a couple hours my arches are aching. I will probably wear my Mephisto all-rounders, expensive, but honestly my feet feel better wearing them all day than they do when barefoot! I also have Easy Spirit tennies, that work great too. Everyone's feet are different, so what works for one, may not work for another.

Me too! I need good arch support, and Crocs don't have that at all. I have the Mephisto Niro model:

--it is good because you can adjust both the mary jane strap and heel strap. It has good traction and arch support, but is very light weight so your feet don't tired. I pair those with a pair of Smartwool sock--for the ultimate in blister protection. Your socks are just as important as your shoes--and smartwool socks act as a buffer and absorb any moisture--wicking it away from your foot and avoiding blisters.

The other tip which is good is to put antiperspirant on your feet. I am not much of a "sweat-person"--but even the tiniest bit of sweat on your feet can cause wetness and that will rub a hot spot on your foot. This is especially true if you wear sandals and no socks.

In the Summer I at Disneyland I wear my Merrell Via sandals (good arch, but incredibly soft footbed and sueded straps that don't rub) with no socks, but in cooler months I wear Mephisto with Smartwool socks.

You can buy Smartwool socks (which will forever change your opinion about socks--these socks are the best ever--I use to never want to wear socks, and now I only wear Smartwool) at your local comfort shoe shop, Nordstrom, or online at:

Take care,
Lisa

I wore the Sketchers mary jane style shoes and they worked out fine. They are kinda sporty and cute. The day I wore flip flops, I got one toe stepped on so many times, my toenail broke off -- ick! So no more flip flops for me!

I wear either crocs or birks, depends on the day.

And yes, I know both are ugly, but honestly don't care, my feet, legs and back don't hurt after the 10+miles I walk everyday at DL

In my opinion no single pair of footware is ever the best for a full day ! I usually start the day in Chaco sandels, and end the day in Birk Boston clogs with wool socks. Somedays I would trade out my running shoes for the birks. I would rotate at least 3 pairs of shoes throughout a multi day trip, with 2 each day.

Oh and I'm thinking of a pair of these as I really like to go barefooted but wouldn't dare.

Well those certainly are interesting, I've never seen anything like that.

I always just wear a comfy pair of tennis shoes. I have thought about crocs but some people swear by them and some don't like them at all. I'll just stick with seems to work for me I guess. It's a good idea to take a pair of back up shoes, if you go back to your hotel during the day you could always switch.

Wow! Crocs for Calgary winters. Now that's something I never thought I'd see!

Comfortable broken in runners are great, but I love Crocs. They are as magical as Disney.
