Any don't misses??? I usually try not to eat there because it is SO expensive but we think we might try one meal there a day. Any suggestions between there and CA?

Thanks,
Kathy

I don't know when you're going, but if the Blue Bayou is open you don't want to miss eating there. You get to watch the boats from POTC going by.

For counter service options at Disneyland we enjoy:
French Market. On weekends and busier days they play live jazz out on the patio. Really large portions that can be shared.
Riverbelle Terrace: Great for breakfast and so nice to enjoy Mickey pancakes while gazing over the Rivers of America.
Redd Rockets Pizza Port: Kind of loud noisy place, that more like a mall food court but decent pasta and salads. Again, large portions that can be shared.
Ranch del Zocalo: Average Mexican food in a nice atmosphere with nice outdoor seating near Big Thunder Mountain. The portions are big, especially the nachos!
Plaza Inn: For lunch and dinner they have huge portions (are you getting a theme of huge here?) of fried chicken and pasta. They also have nice salads. Don't get carrot cake here, both times I have let my kids talk me into it, is dry, tasteless and gross!
Blue Ribbon Bakery. They have a lot of really yummy desserts and cookies obviously but also some nice sandwiches.

At DCA:
Taste Pilots Grill: Really good burgers and chicken sandwiches with a huge fixings bar. I love that thing as it has nice big, green leaf lettuce leaves (not iceberg lettuce, yuk), sliced tomatoes and onions and jalapenos.
Pacfic Wharf Cafe: I always love their soup in breadbowls. Also Cucina Cucamonga (sp?) is right there too. It has a nice outdoor seating area that is so pretty at night as it overlooks the lights of Paradise Pier.
Award Wieners has pretty good hotdogs but only a small seating area that is hardly ever shaded. There is a seating area nearby near the Monsters Inc Ride that has shade however.

For full service in Disneyland we like the Blue Bayou. We prefer lunch, its cheaper and they have the Monte Cristo sandwich which is huge! We also love Carnation Cafe. Nice sandwiches, soups and salads. I love to sit there and enjoy all the goings on of Main Street.

We really enjoyed sneaking out the side entrance by the Grizzly River Rapids to the GC hotel and eating at Whitewater Snacks. When we were there last, they had healthy grilled to order dishes. They also let us substitute fries for a fruit salad. The portions were also huge that my DH and I shared a plate ($7-$8 for 2 of us) and my 2 DDs shared a child's pizza (which was not just 1 slice but a 6" round pizza, so they had 3 slices between them). The 4 of us ate for $15 for a meal. Unbelievable.

Whitewater snacks is an amazing hidden treasure for food.

In the parks, I love going to Redd Rocket's Pizza Port. I never eat indoors though...I always make my way to the semi-outdoor seating towards the back of the restaurant. It is much quieter.

We like the Carnation Cafe or River Bell Terrace for Breakfast, lunch is usually Bengal BBQ(great for a snack also), we usually leave for dinner and then return. If i had to plan a dinner though I would probably go to Redd's or BB. That is about it in Disneyland, don't forget to try a dole whip or a churro!
I am secretly in love with the giant chocolate cake inside the Golden Horseshoe...shhhhh.

Taste Pilots Grill is pretty good in DCA, DH likes the fish tacos at the mexican place there....Cuchina Cucamonga. Maliburritos was good when it was open, but I think it is gone now.

If you need chioces for DTD I am sure everyone can help also.

Overall we find the portions larger and the food better for the same price over in DCA. Try Boudin for salad or soup in bread bowls or TastePilot Grill for the ribs or the loaded fries which are a meal on their own. The corn dogs are pretty good too- I loved the hot link one.

If you're indulging, try Storyteller's in the GC for the buffet. I'm desperately in love with the bread pudding made from the previous day's left over pastries. (Chocolate croissant bread pudding- yum!)

In DL itself, we like to eat in NOS- hearty foods that are more filling, although the fried chicken at the plaza was pretty good too.

Wonderful thread. I love reading about everyone's favorites ... makes me hungry! LOL
