What are the best Disney Apps? Is ridemax still the best...

Do you mean something to plan with at home, or an app for your phone?

On these boards, AP means Annual Passholder. For apps, I have E-Ticket and Mousewait. However, they are on my itouch so they do me no good while I'm actually in the park because I don't have an internet connection there.

I don't have a smart phone, so I use Ridemax on my PC. I plan out the itineraries ahead of time and bring them. Not exactly bleeding edge technology, but it worked extremely well last year when I used it for the first time and I hadn't been there in decades. I hear Touring Plans is good and I believe Ridemax is beta testing a phone app. I'm sure there's plenty of other good apps out there too. Once we got a feel for how the Ridemax plan worked in reality vs. paper (very well) we could semi-customize a plan for other days with what we had learned.

I would like to work out a touring plan. It would be great to have it on my phone but I'd like to know of any good Disney apps anyway.

(Disclosure: I work for TouringPlans.com) TouringPlans.com, as suggested above, has a Disneyland wait times app. TouringPlans is currently beta testing an optimized touring plan system for Walt Disney World that, if I do say so myself, is pretty spectacular.

We are hard at work on a similar system for Disneyland.

I have DL WAITS for my iPhone. Its FREE! And its really pretty accurate.

WDWfigment,
Any idea when the optimized, or optimizABLE DL app is coming out? I am working on customizing some plans for when we go to DL in feb....

If all goes according to plan, the Optimized Touring Plans will be in beta for Disneyland prior to your trip.

Yaaaay, so excited! I'm always looking at that app, just to see what the wait times are like, even though I'm two time zones away!

If you are looking for an app for wait times while you are in the park, MouseWait is a great choice! There is a very big community of Disney fans who are constantly in the parks updating the wait times, so the times a quite accurate. You do need a network connection to run the app, so it helps to have a phone that has a data plan.

This app is great even if you are not in the parks. They are constantly blogging and posting pictures of Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure, so you get up date posts on events that are happening in the parks. And one of the best things about this app is that is FREE, definitely worth checking out!!

Hope this helps!

Another vote for this app! :yay: Living in Canada, we don't have a data plan on our phones for when we roam to the USA. What we do prior to our trip to the parks is purchase a T-mobile SIM card on ebay (and try to obtain a 714 area code number when we activate it online.) We use it in an UNLOCKED GSM phone, either android, or iphone I suppose would work. (Unlocked means it is unlocked from your carrier, using a simple code you can purchase on, say, ebay, or other online websites, and punch in a few numbers to unlock it so other carriers can also be used on your GSM phone.) Optiumus One android phone was the phone we used the last time we were there. This worked great for us, as T-mobile also sells this model of phone, so we figured it would work with their SIM card, and it did. You do have to input the APN data settings on your phone, and set it to use T-mobile data, it's not hard to do, and we paid only $1.49 a day for unlimited data service when in the parks. We had an accurate wait time for rides, and sometimes we shared that info. with others when we overheard them saying, "Let's go see if Space Mountain has a long wait", etc. and they were always pleased to get the info. We also timed our waits in line, and provided input on some rides that had not been recently updated. It was fun to be a part of that community. They also often have generous people doing 'RAOK' (random acts of kindness) such as giving out vinylmations, etc., if you are the first to go find the area where they hid it. It's a fun community, and it's nice that it's a free app.

This is another thing I love about Hojos - they are sponsors of Mousewait, and, they also have their website with the webcam showing different areas of Disneyland. I love when hotels are actively participating in all of the fun! Kudos to Hojos :goodvibes
