We have our usual beaches that we visit when we go Eastern, but the Western itinerary is new for us. We have two children, ages 8 & 6, and we are looking for your suggestions for nice family beaches in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. My kids are not really into water activities, but like to play in the sand and swim in (calm) waters. We'd be looking for beaches which have alot of sand for play, washroom facilities and restaurant/food/beverage facility.

I've been doing some online searches and am thinking of Paradise Beach in Cozumel? Thoughts?

We didn't do any beaches in Cozumel but we've done Seven Mile Beach in GC 3 times. It's beautiful and a short taxi ride from the port. Last time we did our own excursion just paying to rent beach chairs behind the Marriott. They had a restroom but not sure about showers or restaurant since we had a late lunch on the ship.
The water is crystal clear and our boys really enjoyed it.

eta: Welcome to the Disboards!!! You'll love it here!

We love Paradise Beach. The showers and rest rooms are very nice. The food has always bee excellent and plentiful--there is an covered, but open on the sides area with tables, or you can eat at your lounge chairs. I will say the beach isn't that wide, and the sand does have seaweed, etc in it, so it isn't the nicest "sandy' beach. The waves are very calm. One end of the beach does have a little more rocky area that the other, so tender feet may want to wear beach shoes.

I vote for Rum Point on GC. We've been there 2x and Seven Mile 1x. It's a 35 minute drive to get to Rum Point but very family oriented...shower, restroom (clean) and good food with shallow waters that are nice and calm for little ones.

Thank you all for your suggestions.

Is there a particular drop off spot where the taxi's take you to Paradise Beach in Cozumel and seven mile beach in GC? Just wondering if they drop you off at a drop off spot reserved for taxi's/busses/parking etc. or if you can request a particular area if the beach is quite long.

I loved Seven Mile in Grand Cayman but hated paradise beach in cozumel,

The water seemed dirty, oily? and the smell of gas from the jet skis was really bothering me, maybe it would have been nicer further away from the play area but we didn't explore any further than that.

just wasnt for us.

Try Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel. We've been there twice, always a great time. Good food, good service, they even had crafts for the kids. I know you said you didn't need beach activities, but they had those too. (Parasailing, ATV's.)

On Seven Mile Beach you can get dropped off near the hotels. I believe we were dropped off at the Holiday Inn. There are public entryways to the beach too. I believe if you want chairs, etc. you'd have to go through a hotel. Not positive about that though.

In Sept. we tried the all-inclusive at Nachi Cocum at Cozumel, and it was perfect!! Very calm beach, with few people around! And our kids loved the pool & jacuzzi. We'll be going back one week from today!

You don't have to book ahead for Mr. Sanchos. Just have the cab driver drop you off. We always got there as soon as we got off the ship. Never had a problem getting chairs or tables.

Does Mr. Sanchos have good beach sand and calm waters?

Good to know that you can be dropped off near hotels for the seven mile beach. Thanks. :)

Yes, Mr. Sanchos had nice sand and calm waters when we were there a few years ago. My son was young at the time and I don't recall having to worry about him in the water. We absolutely love the place. We have recommended it to friends and they loved it just as much.
