I'm looking at heading down in August of this year and will most likely stay at one of the All-Stars, unless I can get a discount at a moderate. The last two times I've gone to WDW I've stayed at the POFQ, which didn't seem to be that crowded. With that in mind, what are the All-Stars like in August? Are they fairly crowded? Should I pay the extra for a "prefered" room up front, where I would imagine it would be quieter, or is it ok to take a room in the back? Granted I'm not paying to spend the entire day in the room, but taking into consideration the noise factor at night when trying to sleep. Would there be any reason for large groups- schools, cheerleading compition, or anything like that there during that time of year? Any bit of info I can get on the All-Stars would be helpful. Thank you in advance for your responces.

Hi Steven,

My family & I have been at the All-Stars 4 times. With movies being the most recent. We tend to enjoy music the most. I don't know the stats but it does seem to be a quieter resort than the other 2.
When you stay by the pool there is usually a big bunch but the pool is plenty big enough to accomadate everyone there so you don't feel crowded. I've never stayed at sports, nor would I. Too busy and there seems to be more teenagers there( no offense).

Music just happens to be our personal fave. While your there take a stroll over to see the other 2. It's worth it. Next time you'll know right where you want to be.

Good Luck with whichever you choose. I'm sure you wil have fun. After all you'll be on vacation in WDW what could be better?

We stayed at the ASMu 2 years ago in August and it wasn't that crowded or noisy. We didn't have a room overlooking the pool though, which I imagine can get noisy at certain times of the day. The only time we found anything really busy was early morning and late evening in the food court after the parks closed (but it wasn't anything we couldn't deal with...not that bad).

We stayed at a deluxe last July and are doing the same this July, but if I really wanted to go to WDW and had to keep costs down, I wouldn't hesitate to stay at the All Stars again.

Thanks DisneyLisa and MAC3 for your insite. I originally had plans to go this May and stay at the CBR with a discount I had found on mousesavers.com. Unfortunately school started later than I originally thought, which made my student loan checks late, which made me late on paying bills. So, I've decided to head down in August when I can have a full summer of work to save money. I originally thought I'd never stay at one of the All-Stars, but I got to thinking that I'm not planning on spending my whole day in the room so why not go the cheap route?! Thanks again for the advice, and I'd love to hear from other people as well. I would love to hear from as many people as I can. Thanks again.

Considering that the AS are sold out (or close to it) year round, it's always crowded. The difference being the school/youth groups.

We stayed one time that time of year and there were no school goups to be found. The resort was full, but it was normal families and such.

It seemed to make a HUGE difference at the food courts, pools and transportation.

When one family decides to go to the food court, it's two to eight people usually. When one school group goes, it's eight to fifty people, all converging at the same time.

After my last stay there with the "cheerleaders" I swore never, never, never again, even if it was FREE!

Luckily at the end of August you shouldn't have a big issue with groups.

We've stayed at Sports 5x and love it. We always go in July or Aug. The crowds have never been that bad-food court can be busy in the am but manageable. You'll have a great time. WE've been poolside as well as other locations and never had a problem.

Well, my thinking is this, and I could be wrong, that the All-Stars in August won't have a lot of school groups-and that's my biggest fear of staying at the All-Stars. I remember that whenever any of the chorus groups I was in would go on a trip, it would usually be at the end of school i.e. May to early June-depending on the school district. I'll expect the resorts to be crowded in summer that's normal, I just want to avoid the large groups...if I can. And if I can't, then I'll deal with it. Well, thank you for the advice.

We've been at the All Stars several times in August -- last year at the end of August -- and though it's crowded, there weren't any large groups around, at least that we saw. We did notice that the All Stars seemed to be pretty full up, while most of the other resorts had hardly anyone at them! That was good for us, because they had LOTS of buses on the All Star routes, and long lines waiting for the few buses servicing the more expensive resorts. I would have really been steamed if I had been waiting in a long line under the Grand Floridian sign!

How quickly do the All-Stars fill up? For a trip in August, would I have to call now and make a reservation? Thanks for the input.

We LOVE the All Stars ! My one piece of advice is DON'T pay for a preferred room ... I personally don't care for the preferred buildings at ASMo, and because they are closer to the main pools, they would be noisier. We were in Calypso early Sept last year, but we were on the side away from the pool and it was very quiet. But I personally wouldn't spend an extra $10 a night. I too was at Movies last Feb when the cheerleaders were there, and the only thing that bothered me was the way they stood in front of the drink stand and debated about what kind of pop to put in their mugs -- hello, let those of us who know what we want get ours and get outta there ! LOL. When we were there end Aug/early Sept there were no large tour groups to be found and it was very peaceful.
