What are some of the fun "freebie" things you can do at WDW?

Hi all - last time we went to WDW, we found that some of our best memories were those that we came by accidentally and were "free" to do!:D Like little hidden treasures! For example:

1. My DD4 running through the shooting fountains at Downtown Disney.

2. Waking up Tinkerbell with DD

3. Riding the monorail

4. Riding any boat anywhere :D especially from POR to DD

5. Walking around different resorts at night - feeding the ducks at the Yact and Beah Club with DD4 and walking around the Boardwalk right before the fireworks went off

What are some other examples that you've all had like that? I'd love to give them a try during our next trip! :earsboy:

One of our kids favorite 'freebie' things to do is to ride upfront on the monorail. We started this when they were 3yrs and 5yrs old and they have never forgotten it. We are headed back in just 2 weeks and my son, now 14yrs, asked, "Hey, Mom, you think we could try to ride up front in the monorail??" :D

Just go to the front and let the attendant know you would like to do this...sometimes you have to wait a few runs through but they usually can accomodate. I do think there is a 4 person limit. Try it, they will never forget it!

How about the Electrical Water Pagent that goes by the Poly, Contemporary, GF, WL & FW?

We loved watching the parades and fireworks. Another fun freebie and its a souvenier to was in one of the buildings in epcot. YOu can create a postcard and email it home to you. We had fun there lol.

Another fun thing we did was count the hidden mickeys.

Given the small, intimate and "hidden" nature of the location, we felt like we were among the chosen few to see her so up close and interact with her.

DD loved it!

There are so many things to do at WDW that don't cost anything. Riding the monorails, boats, and buses to the different locations is a great way to spend a day. The resorts are so beautiful and unique in their own way. From the All Stars to the Grand Floridian, we find touring and dining in each is a wonderful way to take in the grandeur of Walt Disney World without going to the parks.

I recall seeing this mentioned before, where is this and how do I find out about it?

I Dont know if anyone got this but when My family and I Rode in the front of the monerail, we recieved a card stating something of the sort "Honorary Rider on the Monorail" I wanted to know if any of you guys recieved any card for riding the front of the monorail.

At Fort Wilderness there is a petting zoo and also a nightly campfire & Disney movies which are all free of charge.

Have fun!

Is the petting zoo for resort or onsite guests only? I'd like to visit some of the resorts but don't want to wind up where we're not supposed to be!

* My kids also liked keeping napkins with Mickey on them.

* We stayed at HIFS and they had great kid stuff: they gave away tokens for the game room left and right; face painting every night in the lobby (you could tip, but it was free), family bingo, family karyoke, guest appearances from Gator Land and other places (a baby alligator in the lobby one morning!).

xAmarisx,
Yes, I have my official "Co-Pilot License" for the monorail :) My daughters loved theirs. We have ridden in the front on quite a few occasions, and do not always receive these. It seems that it depends on the CM.

lazarru,
Belle tells a story several times a day in a little area to the right of the castle in MK. The times are posted at that area and in the daily guides that you can pick up around the park.

Sandy Feet,
You can bake cookies (or rather, your kids can have fun mixing all the stuff together:) ) in the Land pavilion. Downstairs at the far left of the food court is a Nestle Toll House booth, and they do it every hour or so as I remember. Each kid gets their own chef hat and a couple of cookies to take with them. My oldest daughter (8) loves it. You can wake up Tinkerbell in her shop in Fantasyland, near the castle.

Hope this helps!

And where can you bake cookies in Epcot?
Thanks,:sunny:

I believe waking up Tinkerbell happens at a store in Fantasyland. Im sure someone can be more accurate for you on that.

As for the cookies, its downstairs in the Land Pavillion in Epcot, on the end, near the food court area. When we were there in Dec they did it on the half hour, every hour from 12:30-4:30. Space is limited and we were told to arrive about 15 minutes in advance (we just missed the last group one day). The kids all get a chef hat with their name on it and they all help out making the cookies. Through Disney magic, and some shaking of the chocolate chips each kid is given, the cookies bake up in no time and each kid gets 2 to go. ;) My kids really enjoyed doing it.

Do the Kidcot Stops in World Showcase at EPCOT. Cool mask that the kids can color and keep. You can also get it stamped with the Passport stamps.

We have never been asked for ID. I'm not sure if off-site guests are "technically allowed", but I know that guests of any WDW resort can use the "freebies" at FW.

I'll pass these along to a friend whose going to WDW for the 1st time with the family in October :earsboy:

Maybe it's me, but if you have to pay to get into a park then it is not free.......

1) Ride the monorail
2) Watch Water Pageant and Wishes from Poly or other.
3) Visit the different resorts
4) Animal watching at DAKL (3 viewing areas). Best time to go is from 5-6 pm.
5) Go to the BW at night (performers)
6) FW Petting Zoo and Nature Walk
7) Ride the boats from resort to resort
8) Check out the icons at the All-Star and PC Resorts
9) FW horse stables
10) FW movies and campfire (Chip and Dale are there)
11) Nightly story telling at DAKL.

Wandering around the Boardwalk and watching entertainers and such!

Playing with Legos at the Disney Market Village in Downtown Disney.

I like spending time at the AKL - we go there for dinner but arrive a couple of hours before to watch the animals be fed, storytelling and walking around!

I love the GF and usually stop there for a lobby shop at least once per trip!

I love taking the boat over to the WL - it is amazing to see the WL from the water side!
