What are pressed pennies?

We did this on our last visit to WDW and DD10 loved it!! They are great souvenirs and she really had a lot of fun looking for the machines. They sell little books that you can keep your collection in.

I hadn't seen pressed pennies since I was a little girl until we went to Disney last winter. My 2 boys really had fun looking for the machines and choosing a design. We now have notice machines in other places, almost always tucked out of the way. We have pennies from the Milwaukee Co. Museum, Kennedy Space Center and else where. Fun and inexpensive.

I love them!!! I have found out though that you want to use pennies from pre 1982.. So I raided the piggy banks and pulled out 20 pennies.. and $10.00 in quarters.. So the money was already saved and it is already put aside..
To clean up the pennies.. soak them in vinegar over night...
