What are points?

I have a little girl who is 2 1/2 and would like to stay at Disney's Beach Club, but the price looks a little high, and someone mentioned points. I am not sure what they are nor how they work can someone help me. I want to see my little girl light up at the sight of the place. I know she won't remember it, but she will have pictures to remind her.
My wife and I want a nice pool and a palce we can play with her. The beach place looks like the perfect place.

Points are used by members to "pay" for reservations at DVC resorts.

Members willing to rent reservations to others may be found on the DVC Rent/Trade Board here on the DIS. Significant savings may be found by renting from a member- but be aware that you would not get daily housekeeping and the payment and cancellation policies will not likely be as generous as reservations made thru Disney directly. All transactions are between those involved- so be sure you are comfortable with all terms of the rental before sending any money.

When you know your exact dates, which resort and room-type you are interested in renting, post your request on the Rent/Trade Board. You may also respond to an offer to rent made by a member.
