I am considering becoming DVC member. My first option is SSR due to the longer contract. I want to find out how difficult it would be to get a studio at BWV or BCV with 7-month notice. Thank you for your response.

dpends onthe time of year you want the studio. Remember DVC is growing and the biger it gets the harder it will be to stay at a small resort.

the Best advice I ever got from this board was buy where you want to stay. I did not listen and I bought 200 points more at BCV. I am using my SSR points for Intervale exchanges :)

BCV is one of the smallest dvc resorts, and can be tough to get into. During Food & Wine (Oct, 1st half of Nov), the holiday decorations season (2nd half Nov, Dec) and spring break (2 weeks around Easter) it'll be nearly impossible to book a studio at 7 months at BWV or BCV. You can go on the waitlist however, with a very good chance it'll come through (assuming you call right at 7 months). To a lesser degree, April/May are tough due to the Flower & Garden Festival. If any of those periods are when you plan to vacation at BCV or BWV then I'd definitely buy points at one of those resorts!

Studios are also the most popular room type. Depends on how important staying in the Epcot area is to you. If you'll be happy at SSR, and want to stay at BCV/BWV once in a while, buy SSR. If you want to stay at BWV/BCV and will be disappointed if you don't - or stressed out if you end up waitlisting, buy there.

If you can't plan more than seven months ahead, it doesn't make any difference where you buy.

I just purchased DVC and went back and forth with this same question.

I went with the "buy where you want to stay" and I was put on a waitlist for 200 points at the BCV. 7 days later I had them!!!

I felt much better about the purchase. It is not that I did not like SSR-I had just never toured the property and I had been to BCV and BWV.

Good luck in deciding!

I would say that it would be fairly difficult to get a studio at BCV at any time except for value season. Last year we got a 1 BR at BWV with like 2 weeks notice... but it was a 1 BR and it was boardwalk view. It was amazing!!! But - it was not a studio, and it was not a cheaper view.

My parents have owned DVC for years... and through the years we have seen that the hardest rooms to get have been the studios at OKW (because they are the cheapest) and the studios at BCV.

We bought SSR for the extra time... and frankly, because I don't care where we stay when we go. We love SSR, BWV, OKW, VWL, HH - we love it all.
