What are my chances of getting Boardwalk

I'll give you:

10% chance you'll get all 4 nights with no waitlist - preferred view.

75% chance you'll be in all 4 nights if you waitlist day by day - preferred view

10% chance your waitlist will not come through for all nights (may not come through for any nights, but if you go day by day, I think you'd get at least some).

5% chance you hit a Boardwalk View or Standard View room - probably using the waitlit.

If you wait until June you'll have even more difficulty since the seven month window opens up in May. Can anyone confirm this? You do not want to be calling a month after you can make ressies!

Actually, June is 6 months out and you'll be able to book at 7 months out. But it's seven months from the check-out day, not the check-in day. So if you planned to stay 4 nights, checking out on 12/7, you could book the entire trip on May 7th.

But that's a popular time, so many people book it a day at a time to be safe. That way you'd call on May 4 to book your December 3 night. Then you could call the next day for your December 4 night, etc.

Right, everyone? I rarely call day-by-day, but that's the way I remember it.

Can I book my home resort now then start calling to book day by day when it is 7 months out. And if I don't get all my days can I just cancel it and keep my reservation for my home resort? I don't want to end up not having anywhere to stay!!!

Book your home resort at the earliest opportunity. When the seven month mark passes you can try to switch the reservation. I am hesitant to do the day to day thing at the seven month window because you may wind up with some nights available and others not and then you will have a split reservation. December is an espcially busy time. I would suggest calling exactly seven months from the date of your checkout and trying to book the entire stay at once. That way you have all your days at one resort, hopefully your first choice. I am not sure how you could have reservations at two different resorts at once...if this is possible then maybe you could do the day to day and keep the original ressie until you are confirmed for all nights at the preferred resort.

If there is a better way to do this, I am sure someone will offer their advice. Good Luck!!

You can keep one reservation while trying to get all of the days at another resort ONLY if you tie up points for each reservation. This isn't really a problem if you have enough banked and current use year points but is a problem if you have to borrow points from the following use year. In the latter case you would want to use the banked and/or borrowed points for the reservation you keep so that you would have the option of banking the current use year points into the following year. I know that I am not stating this very well so perhaps someone else can chime in to explain it in a simpler way.
In any event, I agree with crisi's probability figures. Dec. is a very hard time to book BWV if you want standard or BW views at 7 months; preferred is a little easier.

Probablity implies math - those are - at best, gamblin' odds. I got those numbers straight out of my........shoes.
