What are my Chances of free Dining 01/13?

Hi, I'm a newbie here. We just booked our Disney vacay for 01/03/13-01/08/13. Based on prior years do you think we will be able to get in on free dining? We are staying at POR. Thanks! Heather

I would say that it is pretty slim. Free dining has only been offered once during January in the past 4 years and it wasn't as early as 1/03. With New Year's Day falling on a Tuesday next year and many guests taking the rest of the week off, I don't foresee Disney needing to make any major offer like free dining in order to fill rooms early in the month.

We went last January and stayed at Polynesian. I was hoping for free dining, but they offered 30% off during that month and I ended up saving more by doing that! You can't use discounts with free dining, so if you can get one or the other, it still saves a lot. We loved our January trip!

We went in Jan of 2010. We got buy 4 nights get 3 free. I think it was just for hotel, if you bought a package, but it was a good deal.

I went this year the week of MLK weekend. They had free dining, but we chose to stay at Shades of Green.

We were there that week this year....no free dinning and CRAZY busy and VERY cold. There are reports that by the way New Year Falls next year that crowds should be even greater. We simply did not have a choice in when to go as we had to work around college age kids but that would not be our choice again. Now we LOVE the 2nd or 3rd week of January if that is a possibility and I would expect free dinning during that time.

Funny you mentioned the 2nd or 3rd week because I actually modified our dates to arrive the second week of Jan. Keeping my fingers crossed

Marathon weekend is Jan. 10-13 in 2013. It draws a large crowd. I'm guessing that there will be some kind of package discount for that week but I doubt that it will be free dining.

I am hoping for free dining as well. Or some other good discount. With Marathon week being later, I am hoping they offer something earlier.
We are staying 1/3 - 1/13 at POR Riverside.

We budgeted for what we have booked so any kind of discount wold be a bonus. Whatever the case....10 days with the mouse is a good time
