What are DCL's Luggage limits

DCL provides two luggage tags per person in the documents. On our last cruise we checked in at the resort at WDW and we were asked if we needed more tags. We said sure and she handed us a stack of them. We did check 3 each in cabin and no one said a thing.

Just remember that you have to live in the stateroom with your luggage. I think this is why they are not that strict on limits here. They transport the luggage to your stateroom, but you have to figure out where to put it once it gets there.

DCL provides luggage tags for 2 checked pieces per person. We've never had an issue with bringing more on board (the porters will have extra tags), but there are 2 checked bags included with your transfers if you are using DCL.

If you need to check more, you will need to call DCL about additional tags.

You don't have a huge amount of room in your stateroom. You might consider how much stuff you need/want to bring. We've found that if we are doing WDW first, it is well worth doing laundry on the day we leave (or the night before) and boarding the ship with everything clean. Makes for less luggage. Also, if you visit WDW first, you can arrange to ship home souveniers, etc. before the cruise.

On the way home, they will provide as many tags as you need.

DCL does state that there is a 2 checked bag limit per person, however it doesn't seem it's enforced. Since we may not be able to get away with 2 bags were person for our 14 cruise i'm just not worrying about it.

all I have to say is that after numerous cruises -

PACK LIGHT!

remember that you will need bathing suits, things to cover that bathing suit for entering the main ship areas, sandals, water shoes, some pants, a shirt, a dress/nice pants-shirt, one formal outfit, and basically everything else is comfort clothes - i.e. sundresses or shorts and T-shirts for men. No big deal. I always live in my sun dress I bought on a visit to St. Thomas. That thing is on me day in and day out while on the ship. Think rationally when packing - definately don't think fashion statement. Its too damn hot for that.

As others have stated, as long as you are being reasonable, DCL doesn't seem to have an issue with people exceeding the baggage limit.

In our case, we pulled the car up to the port, unloaded our 6 primary pieces of luggage (3 persons) and asked if we could check a few extra pieces (car seat and one extra bag). The porter went over to his station, pulled out some extra tags, wrote our cabin number on the tag, and off went the excess luggage.

checked on 1 carry on for us........and yes, at the airport...if you fly is where we get the "extra" tags........

we end up w/ separate garment bags for formal nights and other hanging clothes, and then suitcases, and maybe a soft cooler and a beach tote with beach things, and generally tend to overpack even though we know better. And also have another bag w/ DS's electronics so he can have his nintendo DS and watch his DVD's. And sometimes I carry on a tote w/ a couple bottles of wine for the room or sports drinks for when DS plays basketball (its what he likes, what can I tell you, I make sure he gets his three milks at meal time). Never a problem. The porters are wonderful, tip them well, they really do help make a secure welcome to the whole experience. My first cruise, on RCCL from San Juan, I swear I had the feeling I was never going to see any of my things again and did not truly believe the guy was connected to the cruise line in any way, but I went with the flow, and luckily, my fears were unfounded. Not a great welcome, but the DCL experience is different and reassuring.

I can no emphasis enough, pack light. We took 2 big suit cases for 4 of us (adult sized kids, so their clothes are NOT small) and 4 small carryons for a 7 day, and we overpacked.

Thanks everyone. We went last year and did overpack -- in terms of a different short/T-shirt outfit for every day, but found we did stay in swimsuits all day. I just was wondering abt bringing an extra duffle with Princess dresses, etc. that could be stashed under the bed anyway and if DCL cared. AND, my carry on last year was a big tote thing which I have traded out for a rolling carry-on (tote too heavy for aging mom=me) and wondered if DCL would consider that checked? It's abt the same size as two rolling suitcases we do check.
