I just booked the holiday sleigh ride at Wilderness Lodge in December and the Disney Rep said I had to meet at "Port Cachere" at Wilderness Lodge 15 minutes before my start time.

I've never heard of "Port Cachere," does anyone know what and where it is???

Best wishes,
Dave

The front entrance of the hotel, where the valet parking is.

It's called a porte-cochere (not cachere). It means "coach door" or "carriage door". It's a "canopy extending out from a building entrance to shelter those getting in and out of vehicles". In other words, it's the main entrance to WL where the cars pull up out front.

Port cochere is an architectural term for a covered porch large enough for a carriage to pass under. In the case of the Wilderness Lodge - it would be the front entrance.

Edited - LisaS beat me to it!

They like to be fancy. ;)

I've heard that term at other resorts but never at WDW.

If you look at the resort maps they use that term to describe all the driveway/front entrances of hotel/villas or ballroom meeting complexes.

Why don't they just say front door? :yay: :thumbsup2 :yay:

The porte-cochere isn't always necessarily the front door. I stayed at a hotel in Orlando several years ago and the porte-cochere was separate from the front entrance on the left side of the hotel. :upsidedow
