We leave for Switzerland tomorrow and I have this horrible feeling I'm forgetting something important.

What am I forgetting??

PASSPORT!! *THAT* was the important thing not on my list, thank you!!

We *have* ours, had them updated / etc months ago, but it wasn't on my packing list.

I still feel like I'm forgetting something, but that was the important thing that was bothering me.

(As for mail, I've got friends picking it up, and checking on my kitties. And I've got two cameras I'm taking, so no worry about pictures. )

Memory cards??

My best friends are sitting for the kitties, and they'll do a wonderful job.

Got the memory cards, filters, lenses, and batteries for the cameras. I actually get to take two this time! I'm debating taking the video camera, but don't think I will. The still camera is such higher quality, and I almost never watch the videos we record anyway...

Take a copy of the passports (just the page with your picture on it) and carry it with you separate from the original.

If for any reason you misplace your original while travelling you can get the assistance you need from the US Consulate faster with the copy because it will still have the number on it.

Have a wonderful trip. Switzerland is so beautiful so I'm sure we (the DIS) will want to see many many many pictures.

Oh, BTW, don't forget to make copies of your DL, credit cards front and back, sign those traveler's checks, and copy your passport. Don't forget your phone cards, consulate/embassy phone numbers.

It's a good idea to make two copies of your passports - leave one with someone at home and keep the other copy with you but not with your passport. In the event you misplace or loose both your original and your copy, there is another copy that you can have faxed to you.

Susan -- I'm actually not going to try mailing postcards from Switzerland I don't think. Too many get lost. So I'll get some and mail when I get back. We do have the power converter, thanks.
