What Am I Going To Do????

We are set to fly out tomorrow at 4:15pm. DH is playing in a poker tournament today (Sat.) and I thought that it was only today. Now he is telling me that it could possibly go on to Sunday as well. I understand that if he is doing well that he would want to stay and play, but I want to go to Disney!

This is the first one he is playing in and it will be paying off a 6 figure prize. So, I want him to win, but how long do you wait to change a plane reservation for the next day? Can you change it? I don't want to touch it for fear that he will get knocked out of the game, and then I have done it for nothing.

I have a 2 year old that I can't just travel with by myself. That is too much to do. I can barely grocery shop alone with her. And doing the flight thing is hard enough with DH and me, so I don't think going it alone would help.

I just have no clue as to what to do. I have been a nervous wreck since he just told me and now have no clue what to do. I am just about all packed and DD keeps saying "Mickey". I know she wants to go and see Mickey.

Wondering what to do.

:confused3  :sad1: :scared:

That probably depends on what kind of tickets you bought. I would call the airline and find out if you can change them, and if so, what fees are associated with it. Maybe that will help you decide.

hth...and go ahead and kick your dh for signing up for something that he should have known might interfere with your planned family vacation (and then waiting until the last minute to tell you)! ;)

He signed up for the tournament with my blessing (both of us thinking it was a one day thing)....problem is, he just found out about the possibility of an extention today at the tournament.

I don't want to blame him...I just hate not knowing what is going to happen.

Thanks for the advice about contacting the airlines...I thought about it too, just have to call them now and find out. Can't find out any info on the website.

Hi there
I don't blame you for being upset but why not consider flying out to WDW by yourself and having DH catch up since its so much easier for 1 person to get a last minute flight than 3. I did it myself a few years ago with DS5 & DD4 when DH just couldn't leave work on time for the trip and honestly, I was just fine. I just kept thinking about all the single mothers out in the world and that if they could do it so could I. It really wasn't anything close to as bad as I imagined it would be...I was absolutely terrified before I left but having done it I realize Orlando is set up to be family friendly.

The biggest worries for me were getting there so here is what I would recommend-

1.)When getting to the airport you could either get dropped off or use car/limo service for $100. This speeds everything along and allows you to drop off luggage with the Sky-cap while you still have someone with you and DD. I checked my stroller at the gate which meant I had it with me in the airport itself which meant the kids were in one place and comfortable.

2.)The plane ride from NJ is a breeze ( I fly out of Newark). It's so short that my kids usually slept through it when they were little. If you're worried you could always get yourself a $100 portable DVD player for the little one & you're home free.

3.)When you get to the Airport consider getting picked up by car service or the Magical Beginnings service. Both will free your hands from worrying about luggage & driving and allow you to concentrate calmly on you and the little one. I think I used Happy Limo and it was OK.

Once you are at WDW the resort is so very family friendly that you won't have any troubles at all. Then DH can join you after you've settled in.

Of course, you could always cancel and try again for another date but I would call and check the prices of flights before you do that since rates tend to skyrocket for short notice.

I really hope that whatever you do you guys will end up with a amazing trip to WDW in the end. Good luck :goodvibes
