What age were you when you bought?

I was 47 and DH was 49 when we bought in. The kids were in college, nearly done, and DVC was supposed to be for the two of us as empty-nesters. In nearly 40 trips, we have only been alone once!!! :rolleyes1 It turned out that the kids feel that our membership is a family one, so we have had to buy alot more pts than we planned. My oldest, at 30, is just being given our first contract, so she can do her own trips, now that she can afford it. :dance3:

50 and 51 for us, and we have owned for 10 years now.

I was 47, husband was 44 and son was 4. We've been members for 9 yrs. My son is already worrying about 2042. He'll only be 49 and he wants to be able to extend it.

My DW and I bought at ages 50 & 48. Our children are grown and we don't have any grandchildren. We look forward to our trips without youngsters, and just smile when we see misbehaving children with frantic parents.

Disney is wasted on children! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

We bought in January. I was 36 and DH was 39.

We still don't have kids, but will love WDW if we have kids or not. I'll be 73 in 2042!

My parents bought when they were 70 and 71. That was 6 years ago and they've done 2 add-ons. They've gone 3 cruises with us and are doing #4 -Med cruise. They go to WDW several times a year.

We bought at the same time as my parents- we were 43 at the time. My sister bought 6 years ago, too- she was 42 and my bil was 59. My brother was the yongest memeber of my family to buy 3 years ago- he was 39 and my sil was 29!

We all agree it was the best thing we ever did!!

We bought at OKW in 1996 when I was 24 and DH was 28. We had no kids then and still don't.

It was a great move for us -- we got the free park passes through '99. We're certainly not rich, but we decided to commit to this "investment" at an early age. We've loved every minute of it.

We bought in 1999 and added on in 2000 and 2004. We were 46 when we bought and now we are 53. 3 boys ( 2 out of the house and college) (1 left who is a junior in high school with college on the way). Just want to have fun enjoying it with friends and family.

We never "discovered" the wonderful world of Disney World vacations until our two children were grown. We owned a lakeside cottage and were content spending weekends and summer vacations there. After our first trip to WDW we were hooked. When our grandson came along we rented points for a DVC villa because I thought it would be convenient for the baby. One trip was all we needed. We bought into DVc within the year and look forward to spending many vacations with DGS and any other DG children who may follow. My DH and I were both fifty seven when we purchased points at SSR.

We were 45/46 when we bought. Now at 50/51 we are waiting to clear ROFR on a purchase that will double our points.

I see that mostly we were older and had bought the house, the cars, paid for the school, etc. I feel we are financially ready at this point.

I see so many younger people in our valley who buy the newest snowmachine, the best truck, the biggest guns, the fastest boat and then they live in a trailer park in an old single wide while the kids are in rags.

I sure wish they would invest in a nice property and wait for the toys, it comes but we all have worked hard to get the toys. When did it get turned around?

Thanks friends, April

:) DH and I purchased at SSR in 2004 we were both 42 with 2 DS 18 & 10. Only regret is not purchasing in 1996.

We were 26 and 28, no kids yet. We underbought a bit on our house, had 2 cars paid off, and wanted a "guaranteed vacation" for life! We knew when we had kids, they'd be expensive, and we'd never find the money then. We've loved our DVC purchase ever since. We're 40 and 42 now with 2 kids, and we love that we can take them on a classy vacation no matter what. :goodvibes

Another person who bought at almost 50. I was 49, DH was 50 when we bought. Our first trip as DVC members was to celebrate my 50th b'day. Shortly thereafter, we took another trip to celebrate DS's college graduation. His first job contract ever came thru the fax machine at OKW. Unforgettable!

We were 31 and 32 when we bought. Wish we had done it sooner!!! :goodvibes

DH and I bought this March '06 and we were both 37. It is truly a dream come true for me. Nothing makes me feel the way I feel when I am there surrounded by all the magic :wizard:
