Thanks to Netflix, my kids are really enjoying some of the older TV shows that I grew up with! I was wondering if any of these are appropriate for my DD10?

Mork and Mindy
Mr Belevedere
Alf
Gilligan's Island

She loved Punky Brewster and Small Wonder. Just started Webster. Already watches Little House and loves that. I was just looking at the list and wondered if any of these would be good, I dont remember specifics about them! We typically enjoy one episode on a Friday night and they are loving it!
My DS4 watches some of them but I am less worried about them being appropriate for him.
Any other suggestions would be great!

I loved M & M and Gilligan's Island as a kid...don't remember anything inappropriate...if I recall M & M aired at 8 pm in the 70s so couldn't have been that bad.

I think they would be all okay for your daughter, the only that I might have some reservations would be Mork and Mindy and then only small ones.

I remember all but Mr. Belvedere. Imho, they would all be ok. Robin Williams did some bizarro ad libbing on Mork and Mindy but it wasn't profane or obscene and since it was mostly inuendo would go over her head...heck it would go over most adult's heads because of his crazy delivery. Have you seen Alladin? He's the genie and it's similar to that.

Mr Belvedere was about a British male housekeeper it was funny.

I think those shows are appropriate for all your kids.

What would be inappropriate about any of those shows?
they were from before TV ever showed anything or swore or did any of the blatant sexual innuendos that even a 5 yr old understands that they do now!

All of those shows are perfectly fine. My 8 year old likes to watch old Get Smart episodes with me. Ah, I love that show!

DD and I have been going through the old Cosy shows. We just finished season 1. I forot how much I really loved that show.

I think you should be fine. I watched all of those shows when I was that age and if there was anything inappropriate it went right over my head and I don't remember it.

Those are some great shows! I'd let my dd9 watch them all and she watches very little TV. I'm funny about what she watches!

Alf was played on the Canadian disney channel so Alf is definetley okay I watched that as a kid. All of those seem fine i watched them when I was young on retro tv stations

I am not totally sure why you would even think otherwise? :confused3 All of those are G-rated TV shows, that wouldn't even go so far to show MaryAnns midriff for more than 2 scenes in a row or something ridiculous. They had major sensors in those days for TV shows, no cursing at all. Totally 180 from todays shows.

I love Alf (hence, my screen name)!

I think they would all be okay for your daughter, especially Alf. I used to love Punky Brewster too!

I watched all these shows as a kid and wouldn't hesitate to share them with my girls. :) My Belvedere was funny...it was on Friday nights (I think) before Dukes of Hazzard, or maybe we just changed the channel when the Dukes come on. :) Either way my DAD loved Mr B, he laughed so much at that show...we never missed it. :) If we were going to miss it at air time we put in a VHS tape and recorded it to watch later. :)
