What age for Kennedy Space?

We'll be in Orlando the week between Christmas and New Years (crazy, we know) and I'm wondering if our kids are old enough to enjoy a day at Kennedy Space Center. They'll be 9 and almost 7. Any advice?

We went last summer and it was nice. But honestly, unless they are really into NASA and space, I think it could be skipped.

We brought our DD when she was around 10 and she enjoyed it. DH and I grew up when the space program was a really big deal so we were able to talk about our memories of man landing on the moon, the Challenger explosion, benefits that have come out of the space program, etc. Overall, though, if your children show any interest in science they may like it.

We took our boys at 8 and 11 and they loved it. Be prepared to keep moving when you have kids with you. Ours didn't want to linger in some of the exhibits and read everything like my DH did.

We went down in March, trying to catch a launch (but it was postponed). Our twins were only 3 and a half but they really enjoyed it (though their favorite part of the day was the play area, of course!).
My son loves, loves, loves the shuttle, which is why we went.

It was worth it for us but we will probably wait until they're around 9/10 before we go back again for the whole experience (we are going to try for a launch in November).

Have your kids expressed an interest in space/NASA/shuttle launches?
If so, then this is a good time to go (as they will still be prepping shuttles for the last launch, scheduled for Feb 2011).

If they have no interest and you plan on coming down to Orlando again in the next few years, then you could save it for later.
You can always play it by ear and see how the trip goes...
