We are looking at buying a DVC contract and are considering AKV, BCV, VWL, BWV. I noticed that the resale price of VWL are the lowest out there (of these 4). Is that a correct observation? If so, why is that?

The resale prices of various resorts always fluctuate a bit. This week VWL is the lowest, next week it could be BWV. I don't think it means anything.

Prices vary, VWL is the most convienant resort to the MK. We purchased at vwl yearlier this year, at that time all the resorts you mentioned were about the same price, Keep in mind that Disney has Right of First Refusal, this keeps the prices somewhat stable.

I own at BCV, OKW and AKV. I have been to all of the resorts except Vero Beach and I'll tell you that if I were to buy another resale it would be at VWL. My family likes BCV the best and then OKW, but for me my second choice would be VWL. It's a beautiful resort, I can't wait to compare AKV to it because I'm expecting a simular feel to them. I enjoyed all the DVC resorts. Here is my pros to each one.

Beach Club
* Location to EPCOT (5 min walk)
* Cape May Cafe(very nice buffet, even nicer character breakfast)
* Beaches and Cream (The Kitchen Sink)
* Stormalong Bay(The Best Pool in Disney)
* Boardwalk (8 min walk to the boardwalk shops)

Boardwalk
* Activity Center (probably the nicest in DVC)
* Kieser coaster(also have really good pool activites for kids)
*8 Min walk to EPCOT
*20 min walk to MGM
*Lots of shops right at resort(ESPN,Big River Grille,Flying Fish, Spoodles etc.)
*Discounted points for standard rooms (booking 11 months out helps)

Old Key West
*Nice relaxed atmosphere
*Bigger Rooms
*20 min boat ride to the Market place, pleasure island, the West side
*Best value per point for rooms

Villas at Wilderness Lodge
*Whispering Canyon Cafe (Never ending Milkshakes, Lots of Fun)
*Very layed back resort(Rocking chairs are the most comfortable in DVC)
*Magic Kingdom only a short boat ride away
* Short boat ride to Fort Wilderness (Hoop dee do)

Saratoga Springs
* Extra years on Contract
* Even closer to Downtown Disney that OKW.
* Newest resort (until AKV)

Hilton Head
* Beautiful Rooms
* Plenty of Golf (Like I need an excuse to go)
* One of the better resale deals.

I can't comment of Vero Beach or Animal Kingdom since I've never been to either one. I'm really looking forward to going though. Bottom Line, if your thinking of VWL, I would say that there really isn't a ton of difference in any of them. They all have very nice advantages, it just depends on what is important to you.

I'm not sure which specific listings you are looking at. However, the important number for any listing is NOT the lowest price, but what price will be necessary to clear ROFR. If you don't pass ROFR, the price you offered doesn't mean a thing, because Disney walked off with your contract.

The differnence could aslo be for a contract that is fully loaded with points right now vs one that you won't have points all your points until 2009. I actually bought at VWL earlier this year that only had 35% of the contract for 2006, 50% of the contract for 2007 and all of the contract points for 2008. I got a really good price and I think just made it past ROFR because Disney can buy these back and reload the points and sell for a higher price. The bottomline is if you can take advantage of the 11 month window buy where you'll love:goodvibes to stay. I use to own at OKW before the WLV was built and was perfectly happy there until I decided to try the WLV when they first opened and it was easy to get in at the 7 month window. After a few years it became harder and harder to get at the 7 month wiindow and since I didn't want to stay anywhere else I sold OKW and bought the WLV. Good Luck!!
