We have decided to go for it and take our 6 month old to Disneyworld. Hey, she will never be that age again and what a better way to celebrate your first Christmas together as a Family. My next question is for people who have taken a little one on a plane. We do plan to fly direct and it usually takes about 3 hours to get there from home. Besides feeding her when the plane takes off and lands, any other tips to help us not get the dirty looks if she starts to cry. Also some more tips on what to bring to help out. Thanks for your time.

Congratulations on your new little one!
At that age, my kids were still pretty easy on the plane. We would try to get seats where the engine noise and vibration were the loudest, and they would usually just fall asleep because the sound was soothing to them. The engine noise was also a plus because it would drown out some of the baby's noise if the baby got cranky, which rarely happened. I always brought a few new quiet toys--new toys usually hold interest for a few minutes at least!
We always bought a seat for baby, not just for safety but also because the baby would always sleep well in the carseat he was accustomed to. That's probably my best tip. And don't worry about the dirty looks--as long as you are staying calm yourself and doing your best to keep the baby happy, anyone who gives you a dirty look is just being rude and unkind. (I remember giving those "looks" before I had kids--HA!) I remember once when flying with my baby, as we landed I heard the man across the aisle complaining to the flight attendant that my baby had laughed too loud during the flight...which was probably true, since I had kept the baby giggling through the flight to keep him from crying. The flight attendant quietly apologized to the man and handed him a drink coupon for his next flight--I was mortified, but knew I had done my best and that was all I could do!
Have fun!

We took our son on his first Disney trip at this age. He was great on the plane. I remember people commenting after we landed how good our kids were (our daughter was 2). I just remember making sure he had a bottle or something to suck on during take-off and landing for his ears, other than that I can't think of anything. Have a great trip!

We flew there last year, a little over a 2 hour flight, and our daughter was 5 months and she slept the whole time both ways. I am little more concerned now that she is 15 months, just got back from a nightmare flight from Hawaii. I am sure that your flight will be painless, like you said make sure they are sucking/suckling during take over and landing, just for ear popping.

Bring a bag with things for her to look at...a little mirror, a new toy, etc. Also, I have been traveling by palne with my kids since they were 3 months old...one likes the plane and falls asleep - the other one screamed (he didnt like the vibration or the engine noise). My sanity saver has been lollipops. They take a long time eat, and since it is in her mouth, she will be quiet. It also helps with ear probelms and lasts longer than a bottle. And if you are concerned about the sugar - go for sugar free pops. My daughter loves them! Have a happy trip!

Hi, One tip for you is this. My daughters baby DR told us that we needed to bring her in for a check up one week before we flew. This was so he could look in her ears to make sure she did not have any ear problems. He told me that with a child under 4 if they have a ear infection flying at a high alt can pop their ear drums. She was fine, but he said that if she had not been he would have RXed something for her. This way she had a week for it to get better.

He also told us to use the earplanes ear plugs for her. You can find these the cheapest at CVS pharmacy. They have two kinds one for adults and one for Children.

Hope this helps and hope you all have a blast!!!!!!!!
