What about families that can't meet the new mandate, by the time of their cruise.

It's funny how so many of these threads (like this one) are really about appropriate corporate policy and how it should be executed but the posts are really about who knows more about a subject and who should be considered right and wrong.

I don't think it's possible these days to travel without some expectation that COVID-related requirements can change.... in either direction. We booked an August WDW trip back in April, when masks were required indoor and out. Mask requirement was lifted in June, and we were pretty upset because our kids were too young for the vaccine and it was clear they'd be around lots of other kids and adults who were unmasked and unvaccinated. We were very relieved when masks came back indoors/on rides in time for our trip. But others who booked in June in reliance on the no-mask policy were ticked off. I do think this is rotten luck for OP, as they really do not have an option to get the kiddos vaccinated into time. But I also think this is very much a time when all kinds of vacation requirements are in flux, and flexibility is key.

You do realize that the few customers they loose for a while is negligible? People will do Disney even though some are unhappy. Disney “looses “” customers every day over some issue. But they eventually come back or are replaced by others. For small companies this would be an issue. I honestly don’t think a few unhappy people here and there are that much of an issue for DCL
Most companies shy away from bad publicity. I wasn't referring to unhappy customers. If you think people should have to use their insurance to get a refund in this situation you are certainly entitled to think that. Obviously Disney doesn't agree because the are offering full refunds.

Not unexpected. Totally foreseeable.
Many, most?, of us think the Bahamas will be extending the vaccine requirement. Lower the age when a vaccine is approved for younger guests. DCLs website simply says the rule expires on November 1. People who rely on Disney for guidance may be have future ssues.

Disney should suggest unvaccinated people defer cruising.

The first couple sailings of the Fantasy must be selling as the pricing for cabins is going up.

And to put this topic to bed, straight from Disney’s web site:

Disney Cruise Line reserves the right to change any health and safety protocols, including, but not limited to, requirements on vaccinations, masks, and physical distancing related to COVID-19 at its sole discretion, without notice, both prior to and during your presence on the cruise ship. Exactly. Even during pre-pandemic times their contracts stipulated that they could alter terms at any time. A company is not to blame for customers refusing to read the contracts that they were issued.

Is it annoying and does it feel unfair when things that you understood as agreed upon change suddenly? Yes; absolutely! However, it doesn't change the fact that you were warned from the beginning. If you sign contracts without reading them, you have no one to blame but yourself.
