What a wonderful smell...

The smell at the Wilderness Lodge. As soon as I smell woodburning, I immediately think of WL. Such a warm, comforting smell.

The smell as I walk in the lobby of the Beach Club. I am really not sure what it is... It seems to be a combination of a bleach clean smell and a floral smell, but what ever it is, as soon as I walk in I feel like I am home! A couple of visits ago we stayed at the AKL and one thing my Mom kept mentioning as we were there was that she missed the smell of the BC.

The smell that brings back endless Disneyland trips are churros baking in their kiosk. Do they sell churros at WDW??

I also love the smell of Splash Mountain.. a little musty, a little chlorinated.. it's wonderful. :teeth:

My DisneyFamily was paying a visit to the fancy new Cabella's in PA last weekend. They have a full restaurant in the upperlevel. As soon as we came in nose shot of the food cooking there, we all said at the same time......OMG, it smells like Disney World!!!!

It was that smokey bar-b-Q smell that you get around just about ever turkey leg stand and the many restaurants that serve bar-b-Q. (in particular for us - we were transported back to the Trails End at FW!)

The most delicious smell at WDW is the freshly made waffle cones at the Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street. I can still remember that smell today and it makes me think good thoughts!

I also like the musty water smell in the water rides at Disney. Especialy going through the rainstorm in The Land.

Did you notice that the smell at the Polynesian lobby and the smell in the Tiki Room are the same? At least I think they are. That is my favorite smelll there.

The smell of oranges on Horizons, yes I remember that one, I noticed someone else here did too. Pirates of the Carribean definitely has a specific smell as well.

On humid days, our car's air conditioning smells like Pirates of the Caribbean! Love that smell! :p

How about cinnamon roasted almonds sold from a cart in EPCOT right at the entrance to World Showcase?

The float with Chip and Dale baking.

also, that Gingerbread House in the lobby this time of year at Grand Floridian.

Hmm....

I'll have to try those almonds

from Boma at the AKL. INCREDIBLE! We had them locked in our brains from 2 years and when we went back for dinner at Boma last month....instant and total recall!!!!!!!

Love the maple smell from the syrup used on the beaver tails at Canada in Epcot. Yum!

The smell of the turkey legs in Frontierland. LOVE IT!

The smell of beer (and sometimes saurkraut!) when you get near Germany at Epcot! I love both smells.

HATE the mildew smell from the boats at Splash Mountain!!! Can't believe they can't do something about this!!!!

:bounce:

Oh, man! We have a place in our mall that sells roast nuts -- the first time I walked by, I sniffed and told my DH -- "Are we at Epcot?" It smells exactly like that. I love going by that kiosk!

Unpacking my things and smelling that musty (but not icky musty) smell on my clothes. Really makes me wanna go back.

ProfGoof-- What's that a photo of? I'm guessing where Walt Disney's house used to be??? My grandma went to his HS, but years after him. And my friend went to Disney grammar school and she said it was named after him "just because." Do you know if he donate any money to the school?

purplebelle you are correct. Here is an answer to the questin that I posted on the Rumors and News board:

KNWVIKING is correct. A picture of the house that stood on that spot can be found in the book The Art of Walt Disney (from Mickey Mouse to the Magic Kingdom) by Christopher Finch, Harry N. Abrams, Inc., Publishers, copyright 1995, The Walt Disney Company, Page 16. The caption reads:
"Walt Disney's birthplace at 1249 Tripp Avenue, Chicago, built by his father, Elias Disney."
I don't know what happened to the house, but I do know that Walt's father helped build "The White City" also known as the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 (1893 Chicago World's Fair), which was mentioned in the book: THE DEVIL IN THE WHITE CITY Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair That Changed America by Erik Larson, Crown Publishers, copyright 2003. Though Walt wasn't alive at the time, could this have been a sign of things to come??? Sorry for the brief history lesson, but these things fascinate me.

I don't know the history on the Walt Disney Magnet School name. But I can do a little research and let you know. I drive by it all the time and depending on the school's teaching scores, I'd love to send my kids there just cause:D.

I would think that most of the "similar" smells are probably caused by the use of cleaning chemicals that would be the same throughout the complex. Some of the "special" smells that I remember are;

1. The burning of Rome in SE

2. The pine scent in the Christmas Store at Downtown Disney (also the colder temperature in the store)

3. The general smell of PotC.

4. Of course, the oranges in Horizon.

To be honest, I don't remember to many others that caught my attention. Except "tough to be a bug":crazy2:

AKL lobby
Roming Burning in SE
Turkey Legs in FL
Fried Chicken in Disney has a unique smell.

Its not "Disney", but how about the smell of Florida mornings? I love that smell.

And of course, warm Florida rain.

I always smell the water ....you know that smell at thunder mountain....the water has like that tinny smell....and I smell it at all the resorts too.....smelly water...........ooohhh and that smell of cookies on main street
