Just my own experience but i really liked it. Very flexible etc and on a ride such as tsm in hs i never had any luck getting a fastpass before fp+.

That said if u dont plan, are only in disney for a brief time,and arent staying onsite i an see why its a real pain.

Sorry for my silly question but when you made FPs did you make them for the attraction you wanted for the number of people you wanted and then went back in after the fact to adjust the time to a more suitable time on the same day? I am only starting to look into FP+ so if this is possible it makes it seem much more appealing.

The process is as follows:

1. Select the party from your friends and family list (they need to be set up in MDE and have a valid ticket linked)
2. Select the park and date
3. Choose your attractions
4. Pick from the 4 options that closes match the times you want
5. If you want you can then go back in and change the times or attractions to match what you want

...bearing in mind that you sometimes might need to move one or more of the fast passes right out of the way (like 10pm) to make rearranging easier, them move it back when you've got the important ones right. It can be very fussy about time slots and initially tell you there are none but it can be because they overlap another reservation by 5 mins. Move your least favourite 1 or 2 to the end of the day then choose your perfect time for number 1. Bring the second one back to a good time and so on. Also, if only two out of four of you want to do something, do it in two people chunks or even ones and then make the times fit. Dd1 and I wanted 7dmt but couldn't get tickets for our full three week holiday, then I tried it just for one and found dd a ticket. Then strangely I was also able to go and find another one for me only 5 minutes apart from DDs. Attempting together there weren't ever two in the same hour, we got two ones five minutes apart. Shame it can't handle things like that.

That is a great tip!! Thank you! We will be with extended family but I am planning on doing FP+ for just me, DH and our boys so individually might work for us if we can't get them together! Good to know

Ours took an hour pretty much exactly and a 5AM start for a 14 day trip, which actually I didn't mind too much as we managed to get everything we wanted at pretty good times too so for me so far so good (fingers crossed).

Hope I feel the same when we get there

Yep, your right no additional FPs until you have used your booked ones.

If you are travelling in peak season in any park apart from MK you will struggle to get a decent 4th FP anyway so I would book them for late morning, afternoons & evenings to maximise time saved.

Yes, that's what it means. Whether you book mornings or evenings is entirely dependent upon how you intend to tour. If you're only going in the mornings for three hours or so I'd wait till evening and do rope drop. Anything over three hours and it gets more difficult to choose. All this said, they are still developing the system. If and when they let you get your fourth and subsequent FPP via your phone then I think that will be a game changer for planning.

I have just returned from my disney trip this morning and had reservations about the fastpass+ system also. I have travelled 4 times previously using the old system and found the new system a real hit. Here's how I managed fastpass+......

(1) I booked 3 a day 60 days in advance ranging from early morning to later in the day depending on what we were planning to do.

(2)I would recommend that if you plan to rope drop start your fast passes around 10:30 and finish around 13:30. After this time you can then go to a fastpass+ booth and make another. On one day at the magic kingdom with crowd level 5 we managed to fit in 9 fastpasses and only queued in total for 2 hours. If you plan to do a water park book 3 for the most likely park you might visit so you do t miss out.

(3)You can visit my magic service centres in each park to adjust fastpasses as your holiday progresses, we changed several as after the first few days we preferred lying in and staying up late.

(4)fastpass+ has many more attractions available than the old system for example we did illuminations twice. I booked three in advance for future world and added illuminations as my fourth it was well worth it as very few people used it.

(5) however fastpass+ is not worth it for fantastic, Indiana jones or lights motors action as it really only have you a 5 minute head start with no privilege seating.

There is so much you can gain by understanding the system, if you don't use it like many families we witnessed you can queue for 85 minutes for a ride.

If you need any more info let me know and have a great holiday remembering it's only a booking and it can be changed.

They were great seats, and there were CMs telling people they were just for FP+ guests.

Fair enough- it was one of only two FP+ we used at DHS. Other than Toy Story, there was nothing else we wanted to use ours for!

We used one of ours for IJ, there was nothing else available so it was that or nothing. Ended up in seats no better than our previous visit, they give out a crazy amount of FP's, the line snakes forever, if you are near the end (as we were) you might as well be in standby.

It is true that there is not much choice of fastpasses and a fastpass+ for this ride would guarantee a seat but we we're let in 5 minutes before and was seated to the right of the control box high up. Not much different to any other seat.

When we went for fantasmic we were seated in malificent which was to the left of centre. Centre was reserved for dinner and show guests. As an extra tip trying to get from fantasmic to the frozen fireworks was a nightmare with little hope of a good spot so if there's a late fantasmic at 10pm go to that one.

On our last visit (albeit in 2009) we missed IJ one day because the theatre was full. We were there a fortnight so went on another day. As we're only going for a week this year I've booked a FP+ as I love this show.

(I'm finding the teiring system is a real pain when planning a shorter break.)

I hit the 60 days on Saturday and I also checked in online, so fingers crossed, I get my room requests (50's building near transportation) I managed to get my FP+ pretty quick as this is a solo trip, I do sympathise with people sorting large groups, I think I'd go do-lally, although next year it could be me, DD and her BF all going, so that'll be fun to do as BF wants to do the Mountains as much as I do, but, DD only wants to do BTMRR. I did think ahead with my plans, knowing I had ADRs and which parks would be best to do those days (Beaches and Cream lunch made me decide to do either Epcot or DHS in the morning and I got DHS, wouldn't fancy doing RnRC after burgers and ice cream) I'm pretty happy as I got pretty much what I wanted, but, I know I will chop and change some before I go, I did that in May, except I cancelled A&E before I went, changed my mind only to find they were all gone, didn't make that mistake again.

Good post, get them booked, especially the ones that disappear fast, you can go back and change as you say, if there's nothing worth making changes for keep the originals. I love the FP+ it really enhanced my experience. Now just waiting to be able to book the BOGFP+ won't be able to do that until really clode to the trip, but, at least get an idea of possible days ahead so I have a choice if my first date isn't available.
