I finally booked my flight today....that's the good news! The bad news is that I have a three-hour layover in Atlanta airport. The cheapest flight from NY for my trip was a non-direct flight. You can see from my siggie below that I have to buy many tickets.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to pass the time (see ages of my family below)? Any tips would be great.

Thanks

Well when I have a layover 3 hours or more I can find all kids of stuff to do. I have to admit being an aviation (plane) lover, I love hanging out at airports. Here are a few things I do. 1 Explore the airport, if it is one I have never been to. I like to look around at all the shops finding cool stuff for friends back home. It’s also nice to know were shops are when I come through again. 2 I love the ESPN or MSN sports clubs for lunch. The prices there are not too bad for airport food. 3 ride around on the luggage belts. :rotfl2: LOL just kidding. My next BIG flight is going to be with my brother for his Bday. I got us tickets for a flight in a real B-17 flying fortress. I can not wait. Get to sit in the gun turrets and everything.

I second the check out the shops thing...have a contest to see who can find the ugliest T-Shirt or souvenir (my girls once spent 4 or 5 hours in the Pittsburgh airport doing that when we had a delayed flight!!), eating is always a great time killer for my clan and since airlines never feed you anymore they will probably be happy to eat. Be sure to gate check your stroller so you are not lugging baby about for 3 hours. Also you can probably find some empty gate areas where he could get down and run a little.

Last week in the St Louis airport I saw the sweetest family with mom, dad and 5 kids that had laid a quilt down on the floor in the corner of an empty gate area and were having a picnic!! It was really cute. Mom had a soft cooler with the food and dad and one of the older kids had gotten drinks and brought them back. The little ones had room to wiggle and run within the area mom had marked out for them and all appeared to be having a great time.

Personally I would spend a good part of that 3 hours on the move since they will have been on a plane and have to get back on a plane again...wear them out!! And the nice part is you can walk for miles in the Atlanta airport...even without crossing the security gate...there is lots to look at and you can hype it up before arrival as part of the adventure!!

We once had an 8 hour day in the Orlando airport(before they did cancel our flight due to "technical" difficulties)when my 2 DS's were 9 & 7. It's amazing how fast the time really went - the boys spent alot of the time watching the planes come and go as it was still quite a novelty to them. I suggest letting the kids hang out and watch the planes.
