I don't know if "defines" is really the right word I mean. Now I love all kinds of music from all eras. But I think everyone can identify with a 10 year period of songs/music that they really loved and which still mean the world to them today. To me I'd have to say the years 1974-1984 mean the most to me. They were my high school and college years and most importantly the years when I first came out and was in a relationship for the first time. I was buying records & listening to the radio and going to clubs and dancing the night away through much of that period:cool1: and to this day (even though those years are 24-34 years ago) I still never get tired of hearing those songs. So that led me out of curiosity to want to ask you guys, what 10 year period of music do you identify the most with? If you want to also share some songs that you love or some personal experiences that you associate with a song, that's fine too!:)

anything played at 8-trax(more disco than the 80s rap) and it's for the same reason. I came out while on the college program and through PI I really developed a much different personality. I suppose it's no coincidence that I latched on to the typical gay divas. I guess now I understand why :rotfl:

The original punk rock, and new wave stuff. Loved party music in the 80's. That's the social me.

The private me is Carreras, Callas, Tekanawa, Price...

Favourite decade? What decade? My lovely dance music of the 80's faded away - most of it lost as it never made it to a digital medium.

I've turned to the music of Disney parks. This hasn't faded over the years.

  1. "Parade of Dreams" - DL's 50th parade music.
  2. "Remember the Magic" - WDW's 25th anniversary parade music.
  3. "Disney's Dreams on Parade" - Tokyo Disneyland parade from 2003.
  4. Epcot BGM, California Adventure BGM, Animal Kingdom BGM . . .

DV, I empathize with you on the difficulty of locating alot of '80s dance music. Luckily I've been able to find alot of it on CD over the years. There was a 12! volume series called Gay Dance Classics that emphasized alot of early to mid '80s HiNRGY hits that I heard in the clubs back then. If there are any songs you're looking for I could maybe steer you in the right direction...:)
