What’s Open at the Fort - COVID Updates

No appearance of the walking trail still. As far as the construction area, no signs of any new building. There is a parking lot back there behind TE but that’s it. The construction gate is closed and it’s still just a mound of dirt.

Spoke to one of the CM’s driving a carriage around the loops. They wouldn’t give a date for its return but they said “soon.” In another thread, someone was excited that they had seen the carriage and horse going through the Fort but that’s been going on for a while. They do it to keep the horses in their routine for when it returns.

Most of the Fort’s roads and many of the loops have had their roads resurfaced. All the loops appear to be open and in use(I haven’t gone around to the tent loops but will do that tonight to verify.)

The boat rentals are still not available. It’s a staffing issue. They just don’t have enough CM’s to make it possible. The rental sign has been replaced with one displaying the fishing charters and fireworks cruises.

How is the transportation?

I see on other boards, Disney is contracting outside bus companies like Mears to fill in the gaps from labor shortage. Complaints about no strollers or EV allowed on them, have to wait for DT bus, some are saying long waits...

Have had 0 trouble with Fort transportation. Bus transport to MK for the win. We are usually the only people or some of the few on the bus. There are a bunch of non-Disney busses in use at other resorts as they are short drivers. If anyone in Orlando needs a job, Disney is offering $1,000-1,500 sign on bonuses. They are desperate for CM’s. That’s why most of things that aren’t open are still closed is due to a lack of cast.

As an additional update, I confirmed this evening all loops are open. Fort is probably 3/4 full still.

I cannot emphasize enough how friendly all the CM’s we’ve interacted with everywhere have been so incredibly friendly. I have fallen in love with the Fort and Disney all over again.

Thanks for the update!

I don't know about EV but the bus we had was one of those tour buses with plush seats plus you didn't have to break down your stroller - the driver just told them to place it in the hold under the bus. So much more convenient than carrying it on. There was also no standing just 2 x 2 seats all facing forward.

thanks for the update, that doesn't sound too bad, I was worried about the stroller, we at taking our 5 month old GS, wish us luck!

No new construction, but any signs of any 'deconstruction' or 'reforestation' in the areas they prepped for 'that timeshare'?

@2goofycampers , I think we can ceremoniously close this thread. With most things back open save the boat to WL/Contemporary, the boat rentals, and TE returning to a buffet things are "mostly" back to normal. Thanks to all who contributed and provided updates during that unprecedented time. I hope the thread was helpful!
