Tonight, I succumbed to the local market and bought the day’s prepped meal: poulet Vallée d’Auge. It’s a Norman speciality that’s composed of cream, apples, chicken and a touch of (what else?) Calvados. There were two different styles available but I opted for the traditional instead of the version with tarragon added- whyyyy couldn’t I have both? Made a green salad but bought a portion of teurgoule for dessert. It’s a rice pudding baked for several hours, seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves and what else but Calvados
