What’s for Dinner Tonight?

Veggie Cheese Casserole......layered broccoli with a mixture of cottage cheese, sour cream, biscuit mix, eggs, salt.....then topped with sliced tomatoes and grated Parmesan cheese.

I am still battling that bad cold too......a week now. I need to shake it before we leave for vacation.

Last night was the rest of the night before’s roasted veggies and aioli with a piece of turbot fish instead of pork. Made a crème caramel as my bit of sweet.

It’s time for me to start looking for a ticket back home but hopefully I can squeeze one more visit in at the newly opened David Bowie wing of the V & A beforehand. Normandy’s transport infrastructure makes it easy to visit London as a day trip.
This has been a lovely experience and not as go go go as my past French visit. Loved my alone time mixed with seeing others.

I ended up with the leftover chicken and made up some white rice to go with it, while my wife and son had the salmon.

Tonight we'll have chicken wings. I grill them, turning every three minutes, then coat with a bbq sauce, put them back on the grill just long enough to almost caramelize the sauce, then devour them and look like a 5 year old with bbq sauce from ear to ear and some usually running down my arm to my elbows

Been a busy week of cooking - we're hosting a number of neighborhood couples at our lake house on Saturday and I've decided to make an Italian feast. So, I've been busy making sauce, manicotti, gnocchi and eggplant rollatini, with tiramisu being made probably tomorrow night. Chicken parm on Saturday, along with breaded ravioli and other appetizers right before people start coming over. :)

Tonight, I succumbed to the local market and bought the day’s prepped meal: poulet Vallée d’Auge. It’s a Norman speciality that’s composed of cream, apples, chicken and a touch of (what else?) Calvados. There were two different styles available but I opted for the traditional instead of the version with tarragon added- whyyyy couldn’t I have both? Made a green salad but bought a portion of teurgoule for dessert. It’s a rice pudding baked for several hours, seasoned with cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves and what else but Calvados 😉.

Last night we had an interesting experience dining at the only open restaurant in Snowshoe WV called Tuques. I plan on writing it up eventually in a trip report. Ds-27 and I had the wild mushroom burger that came without mushrooms on it and DH had a fried chicken sandwich. They were fine but the atmosphere was definitely weird. Tonight we decided to play it safe and eat at Texas Roadhouse after checking in to our next hotel in Staunton VA. Dh and I had chicken critter salads and Ds-27 had portobello mushroom chicken (finally got his mushrooms!)
