DS-29 came home this morning and we went to a Portuguese market with my brother and his girls. They needed to stock up things you can only get around here before they returned to NJ - chourico, linguica, malasadas, and coffee syrup. We picked up some picanha steak so we'll have that with rice pilaf and broccoli.

flying solo tonight as my husband and daughter are in Chicago to see System of a Down and visit with our son.

my excitement after vacuuming the pool, catching up on laundry, and getting the garage recycling in order was to order some Door Dash with the foods my husband hates....

Kalbi Korean beef short ribs and shrimp tempura ... so good

Actually it was a little cooler than I would’ve liked. We had it at my house bc it wasn’t warm enough to go in the pool.
It was a little disappointing

Edit: But it was a great day with family and friends. My family has always celebrated my birthday on Labor Day weekend. For my b-day my sister brought a cake, my MIL brought my favorite lemon dessert, and my friend brought a 5lb apple pie from a local restaurant that is famous for desserts.
They were all delicious!!

We ordered beef stir fry with rice and beans and fries from the Cuban place down the street. Sautéed beef with onions and tomatoes. Soooooo good

Dinner tonight is homemade turkey meatballs and spaghetti.

Last night was sweet and sour chicken for me and triple cheese chicken for DH.

On the plane back to OC after a great visit with the youngest grandbaby. What a little doll.

Last night we walked around Franklin and had drinks and apps at a new place; Leiper’s Fork House of Spirits. Very fun vibe. Live music. Had dinner at a local pizza place. Had a delicious great white pizza and Greek salad.

Pretty much ate dinner at the Sky Club, before boarding the plane. Soup & sandwiches, maybe a glass of Chardonnay.

Had my bff over for her birthday today. We had a bunch of snacks and Sparkling on the patio. We had chips & dip, bruschetta, Cesar salad cups, wings, cheese and crackers, shrimp cocktail and H came from RI and she brought pastries from La Salle Bakery in Providence. Yum!

Yes but not the one we wanted to go to originally (Portugalia Marketplace). It was closed for Labor Day weekend so we ended up at Amaral's. I had never been to either place but evidently my brother's family goes to Portugalia every time they visit.

My mom shops at Portugalia often. So good there. Haven’t been to Amaral’s since I was a kid!! My childhood home was close to there.

He did! He says he likes Portugalia better but he got chourico, linguica, malasadas, Autocrat coffee syrup, hot Italian sausage and a few other things. They had brought a cooler just for stuff from the market, lol.

My mom used to ship Autocrat syrup (not Portuguese at all) to my cousins in SC.
