What’s for Dinner Tonight?

/
First night in NOLA was dinner at my sister's home. She made roast leg of lamb with a Sri Lankan rice mix from Trader Joe's, lentils, and big salad. It was delicious. Last night (Thursday) we went to Fogo de Chao for a surf and turf dinner. Lots of meat and fish options on the buffet and two cocktails for $45 per person. It was a great deal and a LOT of fun. TOnight we will be going to Cafe 615/da Wabbit in Gretna. They have wonderful food, including the best fried chicken I've ever had (and will probably order). At some point we'll get to the French Quarter for lunch and probably a pub crawl, but it's not high on the list. We come to NOLA twice a year to visit, so the "touristy" things are lower on our priority list. However.. there will be a pub crawl at some point to try out places we haven't been to yet!

Tonight will be a beef and green bean stir fry with rice. It's the last meal out of my first Hello Fresh box. I was supposed to make it yesterday, but was not feeling well so ordered in. Ugh.
I hope you're feeling better today.

Enjoy your trip.

Tonight I’m making grilled shrimp over Cesar salad with a loaf of Italian bread from the bakery my dad stopped at this morning.

Made one large jar of refrigerator dill pickles. Tomorrow I may can a few jars. I have a drawer in my fridge filled with cucumbers 😂

I was planning to make a shrimp scampi w/ zucchini noodles recipe that I found online. Unfortunately, there were no zucchini noodles to be found at the stores in this town & I don't have a tool to make them myself. DH picked up whole wheat spaghetti noodles instead. The guys will also be having a bacon, Caesar bagged salad & garlic knots with it.

Well I planned to use up the rest of the cut mint + parsley and add them to the herb vinaigrette as a base for tonight’s chicken salad but DGD surprised me and suggested I make Coronation (aka curried chicky) salad instead. She turned her nose up at the idea of golden raisins so mango chutney instead.
Served it on croissant for her and made an arugula salad for both of us.

Shoprite's 10 piece fried chicken was on sale for 6.99 so we snapped that up when we were grocery shopping. It's excellent reheated for just 5-7 minutes in the air fryer. That's at least 2 meals for us so leftovers are in the fridge currently. Ice cream for dessert. There were some excellent deals at Shoprite this week for ice cream that's usually too expensive to justify and it's our 6th wedding anniversary on Sunday so that was a nice treat to start our weekend.
